View Full Version : T-Shirt Slogan Contest Poll

Tom
23rd November 2007, 11:33
Thank you for all of your suggestions!

The contest thread got more than 440 posts with more than 1000 suggestions. We didn't expect such a massive participation and it was not easy to reduce all the slogans down to just ten finalists. Therefore we changed the rules a little:

Instead of the planned 10 slogans we have 20 on the "short list" for our user poll
We'll have two more prizes ($500 1st, $400 2nd, $300 3rd, $200 4th, $100 5th)
you can cast a vote for multiple slogans

Good luck!

Hi :)
I have voted for none of the above.
I thought (despite not being a slogan as such), that this post (http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=65306&postcount=128) was one of my favourites. The other version with the R . I . P. "rip in peace" was another.
It is simple, yet conveys the right image.
The fox paw prints over the copy protection. Meaning Slysoft's fox walks all over the protections. Just appealed to my snse of humour. :D

I have to agree with Zebs on this one, http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=65306&postcount=128
This was my favorite also. But if I had to vote for one of the above, it would probably be " A picture of the Slysoft Fox and beneath saying " 21th Century's Fox " Almost like the one submitted but a little change.

I strongly agree with the R.I.P. concept. Some great ones, ones that I would buy, were left out. I suggest adding more to the 20.

zebadee, SlyFox 1, hanschke, Clon1, samson, autodidact,

I'm sorry that our selection don't match your taste. Tell me which slogans you miss (slogan, author, post#) and I'll try to find a way making everybody happy.

Hi :)
Thanks Tom.
Personally I am not unhappy.
Just don't feel I want to vote for any on the shortlist.
But I have accepted that as the way things are.
My favourites were more of a LOGO than a SLOGAN.
So technically not eligible.

I did vote for three on that list - the three I could wear the t-shirt if I was donated one without feeling like a moron ;) real sorry for all the minors

Sorry to say but I have to agree, these slogans are just not good enough to make me
vote and I certainly won't buy a t-shirt with any of these slogans printed on them!
I could easily pick 20 other slogans (mine not included) that has much more style and
would match the Slysoft concept a lot better!

The slogan contest and poll results turned into a farce... come on guys, you can do better than this!

Hey, I would be really really interested seeing our list :agree:
(pretty much thingking the same about the contest, and really feeling sorry for slysoft)

The image of a finger is considered explicit?

I am very sorry. That's just what happens if I try to binary count to four while being too uptight to use my brain.

Mea culpa! I censored the image.

(Phew, luckily it didn't show a fist or tongue ... :p)

Greetings,

No don't get me wrong it was funny as hell I just wish I knew we could add images like that to make it more interesting.Personally I would have added an image of a Fox with a studio image or DVD against a cliff. You know that way the Studio or DVD image would be pushing up against the Fox if you know what I mean. Hehehehe

Well I'm not too happy with the slogans but at least I feel honored to have been chosen.

I thought they were supposed to be a short catchy phrase that a non-user could grasp the usefulness of the product and it's possible use for them to buy. What is drm? and aacs? How can anyone who doesn't know what a particular acronym is, think a catch phase is catchy? I don't know! Were it my company,(and it's not) I would steer clear of acronyms and double entendres. Unless they know what you know, and how can they know what you know, unless they know, you know! Good because I didn't and still don't, and don't care to either. I just care that it works for me and it's easy enough that even I can do it. However it was fun and fun to read other peoples imaginative takes on the requested task and it was fun to write this. So who cares, it was fun to play with word play for a day. I voted for my favorite, everyone else should too. Even if you don't like the choices, pick the one you don't like the least. Good luck to all the ones up there. Bye!

I donīt get, why so many users voted "MPAA can kiss my AACS"!
It sounds like AnyDVD is only for HD-Media!!! And we all know, that the medium DVD will last for at least 7 more years! So the T-Shirt should wear a slogan, that fits for all protected media, DVD, HD-DVD, Bluray and what else may come! My favorite is "Protection is futile"! But I could also live with "Itīs not a copy, itīs a backup"!

Hi Tom:
While I was not that crazy about slysoft's selections, it would be unfair to those who were selected for me to make that much of a fuss over it, so I decided to cast my vote, because after all I may have been one on that list.

One thing though, I agree with D. Polecastro and Chief Thunder, if it's not clear on the t-shirt what you're saying, than how will you get people to buy. I have no idea what MPAA or AACS means and unless you know what that is, no one is going to understand that on a t-shirt, no offense intended just an observation.

So peace to all and have a very Blessed Christmas & New Year.

I am sorry that I missed this competition. Having read the thread with all of the entries, I think that there were some excellent entries, but liek some others have mentioned here, I have no idea what MPAA and AACS means so I'm afraid they make no sense to me...

MPAA = Motion Picture Association of America - a cartel of people like Disney, Fox and Sony who are trying to shut down products like AnyDVD and generally tell you what you can and can't do with the DVD's you purchase.

AACS is the HD-DVD encryption.

Hi guys,

First of all: Sorry for the delay in getting this out, but I just got back from a business trip...

Thanks to all of you for your participation in our T-Shirt contest. 'Unfortunately', we really had THREE winners for the 5th prize, so all three will win the prize. The winners with the most votes are:

Slogan Forum User Votes Prize
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not a copy - it's a backup christopherpm 22 $500
Because it feels better without protection Chessboxing 19 $400
MPAA can kiss my AACS sej7278 17 $300
From Antigua with Love familymahone 9 $200
Stand up for Your Rights (Fox as Bob Marley) sondeterra 8 $100
(SlySoft Fox as Che Guevara) John Smith 8 $100
Relax, you just scratched a copy mrGABE 8 $100

I've sent a PM to all winners. The winner, 'John Smith', is a SlySoft Team Member - I'll make sure he buys his colleagues some drinks on Friday night (and we'll make sure this is even more than the 100 bucks he won :-) )

Some people complained that 'a lot of good slogans' were missing in our poll. To satisfy them and show our good faith we decided to reward all slogans used on a T-Shirt with another $100.

i was very happy with my result, bought the anydvd-hd upgrade and will probably buy an hd-dvd drive (not bluray!)

do we have any designs for the t-shirts yet, or will they be text only? (cos some won't make sense to "outsiders" without an image)

I'm late, but I would have liked "Crazy like a Fox."

Besides being a recognized saying and the obvious connotation to the Slysoft fox, there's another meaning behind it. Slysoft is just as crazy about removing the restrictions as Fox (the most ardent supporter of copy protection among the studios) is about restricting the content. :)
