View Full Version : Problem with CloneDVD mobile on Laptops

Maxx

CloneDVDmobile doesn't seem to work with my Vista Ultimate although all other Slysoft products do. As soon as I specify a source location, either by typing an address or pressing the "Browse" button, I see a dialog box which says "Application has stopped working" with an "APPCRASH" event. The problem occurs for all output formats and seems to be directly related to the search for the source address.

I tried "XP Compatibility" mode, running as Administrator, and if fact, even turning off UAC. None of these options correct the problem. As I said, all the other Slysoft products work just fine with Vista.

how do you go to xp compat mode? I have another piece of software that says it is not compatible with vista and will not load.

I can use the mobile dvd to pull the movie off the dvd in Vista but then I have bad atom errors in some of the files and they are useless on the vista machine only.

how do you go to xp compat mode?

To enter Windows XP and Vista Compatibilty mode:

1 - Rightclick the application's icon and select "Properties"

2 - Select the "Compatibility"-tab, then "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

3 - Select your desired OS and other selections you might need. :)
(Disclaimer: CloneDVDmobile 1.1.4.0 is working “out-of-the-web” for me, so my selections are for educational purposes only. 8) )

I have the same problem. As soon as I pick a location to browse to (my DvD player) the program is shut down by Vista with the message, "CloneDVD mobile Application has stopped working."

I've tried turning off UAC, ran as admin, and tried XP compatibility mode. None of that works.

The program appears to be working normally until that point.

cdvdm works great in vista ultimate for me (latest cdvdm [1141] vista updates and dreamscene installed). dont even have to put in compatibility mode. ive converted 5+ movies to divx and its working fabulously. no problems with UAC or needing to run as admin.

perhaps its a conflict with antivirus or firewall?

mathews65

I've tried disabling antivirus and the firewall (though I can't imagine why that would affect the program) as well. I got rid of every process I could and still it crashes as soon as I finish browsing to a drive.

I have what I believe is an identical problem. I am an owner of CloneDVD2, AnyDVD and CloneDVD mobile and have been for a fair while. I used to use them on my XP pc and have hardly ever had any problems.

My new Vista Home Premium laptop arrived yesterday, and now when I try to open certain disks with CloneDVD mobile I get an error message from Vista saying the application has "stopped working" and gives two options to close it.

It's only certain disks, and they're disks that worked fine on my XP pc. No packet writing software or anything here. Any ideas?

I never tried the product on XP so I do not have anything to compare it to but getting it to run in Vista required giving it admin rights to get it to even start.

There hasn't been much response from slysoft so I hope that means they are working on the problem rather than giving up.

You may want to try right clicking the shortcut/icon and clicking "Run as administrator".

I wonder as well if User Account Control is doing something weird.

DVDspin
7th September 2007, 13:58
Yes, you could also try disabling User Account Control by going Control Panel(Classic View)>User Accounts>Turn User Account Control on or off. If you have more that one account on your computer you will have to click on your account.

I've got UAC turned off and have also tried the run as administrator button - it still doesn't work. I don't know if it's coincidence, but for me the discs that haven't worked are TV series - it seems to work with movie discs. Either way, it's really quite frustrating and I hope that a solution can eventually be found.

Maybe if you post the Anydvd status screens of the disc you're having problems with, and list the title and what country the discs are from, peer might have some further advice (just a thought/guess/suggestion). http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=321 (step 8 )

Another thing you can try is to use Anydvd ripper on those discs (right click the red fox icon and select "rip video dvd to harddisk"). After, try Clonedvdmobile on the rip.

By the way, the most recent version of Anydvd is 6.1.7.3. You can find it here: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=7541

The title I have an issue with is The West Wing Season Six - the same problem on all discs in the season. It's region 2 UK, and it doesn't having any particularly interesting copy protection on it at all.

The AnyDVD (6.1.7.3) status window looks like this:

Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 6.1.7.3)
SLIMTYPE DVD ADS8A1H WH66 2007/03/09 18:50
Drive (Hardware) Region: 0 (not set!)

Media is a DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)
Size of first Layer: 1875520 sectors (3663 MBytes)
Total size: 2812068 sectors (5492 MBytes)

Video DVD (or CD) label: WEST_WING_S6_D3
Media is CSS protected!
Video Standard: PAL
Media is locked to region(s): 2 4 5!

RCE protection not found.
DVD structure appears to be correct.
Structural copy protection not found.
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
Bad sector protection not found.
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 2!

As i've said before, this disc works fine in my XP machine. I've tried a few other movie discs (Fight Club UK Region 2 is one that I can remember trying) in this Vista Home Premium machine and they worked fine.

The error window I get immediately I attempt to open the Video_TS folder from one of the discs that I have issues with is this:
http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/6492/screenyyf9.th.jpg (http://img509.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenyyf9.jpg)

As you can see from the image, CloneDVD mobile has not loaded the disc - this error comes up immediately the enter key is pressed after entering the Video_TS folder location.

Clicking "View problem details" gives this information:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: CloneDVDmobile.exe
Application Version: 1.1.5.4
Application Timestamp: 46b9f2c1
Fault Module Name: CloneDVDmobile.exe

As a further point, this disc opens and processes perfectly with CloneDVD2. This issue is only with CloneDVD mobile.

I've tried using both the AnyDVD ripper, and DVDDecrypter and opening the Video_TS folder from the hard drive. This results in exactly the same problem as I have described.

The Imgburn filter driver load order for my machine shows this:

Drive (Hardware) Region: 0 (not set!)

I don't know if this will help, but it might:

i. Right click the fox on your toolbar. Exit Anydvd
ii. Click start. Right click on "My computer"--->select "properties".
iii.Click on the 'Hardware' tab--->click the 'device manager' button.
iv. Open the dvd/cdrom branch---> right click on your optical drive
v. Click "properties".
vi. You should have a region tab. From there you can select a region.
vii. Select the region that matches the region on the disc
viii. Start Anydvd
ix. click the fox icon on your toolbar. Go to Video dvd--->settings
x. Change the default to match the region on the disc
xi. Click Ok

I think peer will have the best advice.

But anyway, also try this:
Go into device manager, and check to ensure you're using standard Microsoft ide busmaster drivers.

Right click on your PCI IDE Bus Master controller, and remove it. Ensure that it also removes the driver for your DVD/CD rom. Reboot. Your system should find hardware. After your system is finished installing hardware, reboot again.

I don't think it can be a drive issue if I have the same problem opening the discs after they've been ripped to the HD, and because they open fine with other software such as CloneDVD2 (from disc or folder) with AnyDVD running.

Nonetheless, my DVD drive is a SATA drive as far as I can see - I don't have any PCI IDE controllers installed on my machine.

It's not. What I was checking for are corrupt ide busmaster drivers.

Fair enough . . .

I've found a workaround for now - if you use CloneDVD 2 to rip the DVD, strip out the menus etc to only leave the bits you want, then process the ripped content with CloneDVD mobile it works fine.

So the problem lies somewhere between CloneDVD mobile, Vista only and certain disks - in my case it seems to be TV series discs.

I'm happy to have found a temporary solution but as you say, hopefully peer will be able to figure out a proper fix from the information I've given.

I have the same problem. As soon as I click on "browse" to locate the files the program is shut down by Vista with the message, "CloneDVD mobile Application has stopped working."

This is a new problem with Vista. My old computer (XP) worked fine on 100 movies.

I've had exactly the same problem - albeit not with 100% of discs - I have found some that work.

I started another thread here
http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=7516

which contains a workaround I discovered, but I'm aware it's a total pain to have to do it in that fashion and I sincerely hope this will be resolved shortly.

Yakuza, thank you so much for the work around, it's worked for me for The Simpsons Movie. So thankfully I'll have this as well as Transformers on my Archos for my long flight to the States.

I noticed there's two versions (one slightly longer) each with 3 camera angles, although when I flick between I can't see a difference. I wonder if this is overloading Mobile? (since it normally tries to "pick" a suitable title to convert when you select a location).

A number of quite old threads highlight problems with CloneDVD Mobile and Vista yet, seemingly, there are no fixes coming from SlySoft.

I'm seeing exactly the same problem that others are having (though like them it's only on certain DVDs) and was wondering if there is any possibility of SlySoft looking into and resolving the issue.

I started trialling the program under XP Pro and had no problem but when I used the trial on a newly-bought laptop running Vista Premium, quite a high proportion of DVDs can't be converted.

Among the related threads I've found in this forum are:

http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=3027
http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=7516

Is it the case, for instance, that the trial version I downloaded - on Jan 8 - won't contain some related fix that the paid-for version will have?

Whatever the situation, I'd VERY much like a resolution.

This is seriously good software (under XP at any rate) and I'm sure I'm far from alone in hoping and expecting that it will work equally well under Vista without the user having to jump through a whole series of hoops - but, currently, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Thanks in anticipation

Delighted to hear it but, sadly, that fact is not overly relevant to me since, like a huge proportion of the people running Vista, I'm using an OEM 32-bit version.

Anyone else able to comment about the problem that I and others are having?

What AnyDVD version do you run?

What movie title do you try to transcode?

What exact CloneDVD mobile profile did your choose? What resolution? What quality settings?

What exact title did you choose to be copied?

What exact sound track did you choose to be copied?

What exact error message(s) do you receive and when does it (do they) appear?

Charlie,

Sorry, I think that everyone is missing the point here - the problem seems to be specific to CloneDVD Mobile running under Vista 32-bit on a laptop.

And I've already detailed the error by referencing this posting (http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=50148&postcount=9) in another thread.

The key things that Yakuza965's posting says are:

* The disc works fine in my XP machine .

* I've tried a few other movie discs in this Vista Home Premium machine and they worked fine [Bob adds - initially, I was able to convert a couple of DVDs but right now, I seem to be getting the error on all DVDs].

* The error window I get immediately I attempt to open the Video_TS folder from one of the discs that I have issues with is this [Bob adds - this is referencing an image that is included in that posting]

* As you can see from the image, CloneDVD mobile has not loaded the disc - this error comes up [B]immediately the enter key is pressed after entering the Video_TS folder location [Bob adds - same here].

Anyway, here's my attempt at answering the questions - some of which are not answerable given that the error happens at the stage where I select a Video_TS folder.

Q. What AnyDVD version do you run?
A. All PCs concerned - three in total - are running V.1.1.6.0

Q. What movie title do you try to transcode?
A. Too many to mention - and, the fact is that now, the laptop running Vista seems to have this problem with all discs. The only disc that has given problems on the other PCs is SOPRANOS_SEASON6_FINAL_DISC3 and this has a quite different problem that I'll detail in a different thread.

Q. What exact CloneDVD mobile profile did your choose? What resolution? What quality settings?
A. In every case, on every PC, the profile is Archos AV/PMA/Gmini (400/500/700). Resolution is NOT set on the problem PC because this option is only available once a DVD has been 'accepted' - the error is displayed before this stage - likewise quality settings - but, nonetheless, the resolution setting that has been used on all three PCs is 480x360 and the quality setting is 17 (though, as I said, I don't get to that stage currently on the laptop because it barfs out with an error immediately I attempt to open a Video_TS folder)

Q. What exact title did you choose to be copied?
A. Sorry, I don't understand the question

Q. What exact sound track did you choose to be copied?
A. I don't get to this option because the error happens immediately I attempt to open a Video_TS folder

Q. What exact error message(s) do you receive and when does it (do they) appear?
A. Precisely as detailed in this posting (http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=50148&postcount=9) in another thread.

To re-iterate. The problem seems to be specific to a laptop running Vista 32-bit and seems to be unrelated to the DVD itself since other PCs running the same version of CloneDVD Mobile (one XP, one Vista) do not have the problem with the same discs.

And, of course, this is why the title of this thread is so very specific. The subject line reads, 'Problems with Vista on laptops - any resolution?' because I am having the same problem that two others using Vista laptops have had.

Thanks in anticipation for any suggestions of steps I might carry out to try to come up with a solution.

Cheers

Bob

1. Use Anydvd 6.3.0.9 beta: click http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/SetupAnyDVD6309.exe

You may need to reboot after installing if prompted to do so.

2. Click the red fox icon on your toolbar. Click "default". Click "ok".

3. Right click the red fox icon, and select "rip video dvd to harddisk." Choose your source and destination paths. Click "Copy", and wait for Anydvd ripper to finish.

4. Ensure that you're using Clonedvd mobile 1.1.6.0: click http://static.slysoft.com/SetupCloneDVDmobile1160.exe

5. Use the rip from step 3 as the source

If you experience issues, please provide the full error message so others can assist you better in addition to doing this:

a) Ensure Anydvd is running.
b) Put the problematic original disc in your optical drive/reader. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
c) Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
d) Select "Create Logfile"
e) Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
f) A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
g) Go to your My Documents folder
h) You will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar; see step f)
i) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like http://forum.slysoft.com/images.slysoft/editor/attach.gif
j) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
k) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
l) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
m) click "upload"

Webslinger,

Thanks for the massively detailed response!!

I will, of course, follow your guidelines and report back here as soon as I can.

But what I'd like to know is why I'm having the problem on this Vista laptop and not on a Vista desktop PC or an XP desktop PC which are both running the same software.

That's not just me being picky - the fact is that the detailed steps that you very kindly provide are a whole lot more trouble than the few clicks that are needed when CloneDVD is able (as it is on the Vista and XP desktop PCs) to convert DVDs that are being cracked in real-time by AnyDVD.

on my tablet pc, dvd mobile worked fine and then when i got it back from the fujitsu warranty center for a hardware issue it didnt work anymore.
They cleaned out my machine and reinstalled Windows xp.

I had the exact same problems you are encountering,
however I am not running Vista.
I used 'killedit' to kill process one by one, and after hours of investigating,
i found that by killing tabtip.exe would allow DVD mobile to work again.

tabtip.exe is a memory manager and performance enhancer exclusively for laptop and tablet versions of windows.

it would be nice if a new version of clone dvd 'MOBILE' would be corrected to work with MOBILE computers.

I copied minority report first and it went through. After that was finished I tried copying dragonfly but it had the same error. I just bought the laptop so I tried resetting it to factory setting because of all the updates that I downloaded. I still am having the problem. I really would like this resolved before my trial is up, i am on 19 days left.

I have an HP tablet running a 32b Vista Premium.

Robo,

Hard to think how you could possibly have done better for a first posting!

You have indeed highlighted the cause of the problem that I was having on an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC model tx1000 - which, of course, is a Tablet PC!

Thank you so very much!

Task Manager showed that there were two instances of tabtip.exe running - neither of which Task Manager could stop from running.

But I don't happen to have any apps like killedit (fact is, after reading your posting, I searched for killedit and couldn't find it).

So, I used Vista's Manage options to disable Tablet PC Input Service.

For those who aren't familiar with how to disable a service with the tools that Vista supplies, all that's necessary is to:

* Right-click on Computer on the desktop
* Choose Manage
* Choose Services and Applications
* Choose Services
* Scroll down to the service you want, double-click on it and choose Disable
* So, in my case, I scrolled down to Tablet PC Input Service:
+ Double-clicked on it and
+ Chose Disable (here it was set to automatic)

To try to help others, I shall now be posting a link to your solution in those two other threads that I referenced in my seed posting:
http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=3027
http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=7516

So, once more, many, many thanks.

Oh, and I really shouldn't overlook your apt - and aptly cutting - comment, "it would be nice if a new version of clone dvd 'MOBILE' would be corrected to work with MOBILE computers".

I was also wondering about this - and how long it will be before SlySoft comes up with a workaround that disables Tablet PC Input Service - or, at very least, adds your discovery to a prominent FAQ (naturally, Sod's Law says it's there already and I missed it).

What's actually needed, I feel, is a button to do this disabling and which is located on the screen BEFORE the one where the user chooses which VOB to convert; plus another button on the final screen to turn Tablet PC Input Service back on again.

Alternatively (and, perhaps, better still), have each button able to toggle the service between disabled and automatic.

Cheers

Bob Crabtree

on my tablet pc, dvd mobile worked fine and then when i got it back from the fujitsu warranty center for a hardware issue it didnt work anymore.

I was having what appeared to be exactly the same problem as you (mine on an HP Tablet PC - a Pavilion Entertainment PC model tx1000) but Robo (hooray for Robo) has in his very first posting on these forums come up a solution that works for me.

Essentially, all I needed to do was disable the Table PC Input Service!

Robo used a dedicated service-killer app to do this, as he explains here (http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=82877&postcount=14).

However, I had no such app to hand (and couldn't find where to download the one that he used), so I just used Vista's own Manage tool, as I explain in my comment to Robo's posting (http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=83239&postcount=16).

Hope this helps

Bob C (off to post the same to your other thread (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=3027) about this matter)

Errr . . .

I forgot to delete that post. It has to do with changing the titles of threads (I need to merge existing ones). :o

And a post must require at least 10 characters in order to be created.

Your explanation is fine too though. :D

This sounds like a great solution to the problem...however, it's not the solution to my problem as whilst my laptop is an HP, it's not a tablet and I have no tabtip.exe running.

It's a shame about this issue as I've now given up using CloneDVD Mobile altogether as it's too much hassle to get the movies to work when they randomly don't. Hopefully sometime I'll have time to follow the methodology of killing processes to see if I can find out what's causing the problem on my system.

Yakuza965,

I'm really sorry to hear that this hasn't sorted out your problem but I'd like to think that if you do experiment with stopping various non-essential Windows services you will find the right one.

But, please, do ensure that you create a System Restore point before you start fiddling, just in case you accidentally disable a service that is critical to the PC's running.

I knew how to do this easily in XP, but Vista seems to want me to jump through hoops, opening Control Panel, choosing system and then clicking on System Protection >System Restore.

But, getting back to matter in hand - for those who do have Vista tablet PCs or Vista laptop PCs that are running the Tablet PC Input Service, I have come up with a nice way of dealing with the problem - a pair of batch files, each of which has to be run with Administrator privileges.

One batch file gives the PC an instruction to stop the service and is used BEFORE you run CloneDVD Mobile.

The other, of course, gives it an instruction to start the service again and is run once you'd finished using CloneDVD Mobile and wish to restore the full functionality of the service.

The first step to creating these two files is to right-click on the Vista Desktop and chose New>Text Document.

This creates a new empty text document on the desktop called, yes, New Text Document.

Right click on the document and choose the Rename option (which is near to the end of the list that will pop up) and give it a name like,

BeforeCloneDVDMobile

Then double-click on the document (which will open it for editing) and copy into it the following line (including the quote marks around TabletInputService):

NET STOP "TabletInputService"

Save and close the text document.

At the moment, this is only a text document and if you double-click on it again, all you'll be doing is opening it for editing once more - which you should have no need to do.

What you actually want is to turn it into a batch file and to do that, you need to give it a different three-letter file tail.

Pardon?

Well, in Windows, all files have file tails but not everyone realises this - not least because, by default, Windows hides these tails.

D'oh!

The file you just created is actually called BeforeCloneDVDMobile.txt but the .txt bit is hidden from unless you've already instructed Windows not to hide file tails.

What you need to do if you can't see the .txt bit is tell Windows to show you these file tails, so you can rename the file to have an ending, .bat. The renamed file would thus be called,

BeforeCloneDVDMobile.bat

But how do you go about telling Windows to show file tails?

Easy. Just open up Computer and, in the new window that appears, click Desktop (over at the left) then on the Organize menu at top left and choose Folder and Search Options.

Next, click on the View tab at the top of the latest new window and cast your eye down the list until you see the entry (about seven items down) for,

Hide extensions for known file types.

This will have a box alongside it containing a tick. Click on that box and the tick goes away.

Then click on the Apply button at bottom right of that window to confirm that you want to make the change. End by closing the window.

Now you should see that the file you just created really is called,

BeforeCloneDVDMobile.txt

So, rename it as described earlier, by first right-clicking on it and choosing Rename.

But, unlike the last rename you did, you don't want to delete the whole name, just give it a different file tail, so using the keyboard left and right arrow keys to navigate to end of the name and delete the txt bit and replace it with bat.

Now, your file will be called,

BeforeCloneDVDMobile.bat

Note that the dot before bat is important because it says to Windows that what follows is a file tail.

So, that's the first batch file created. Now you need to run this newly created batch file to turn off the service.

Trouble is, although the batch file will run if you just double-click on it, it won't actually turn off the service!

Why did I bother to get you to do all this messing about, then?

Because, if you run it a subtly different way, it WILL turn off the service!

All you need to do is right-click on the batch file and choose,

Run as administrator

Vista will interrogate you about whether you really want to do this but, after clicking through that question, you'll see a black run-window appears for a few seconds and containing a few lines, including these three,

NET STOP "TabletInputService"

The Tablet PC Input Service service is stopping.
The Tablet PC Input Service service was stopped successfully.

So that pesky service is now stopped.

But, although the service will restart automatically the next time Vista restarts, what you really should do is create a second batch file that lets you restore the service without the hassle of a restart and which you'd run in the same way when you've finished with CloneDVD Mobile.

Creating that second batch file is pretty trivial.

Right-click on your newly-created batch file and drag it to an empty area on the desktop. A menu will pop up from which you want to choose,

Copy

Then right-click on that copy of the file and rename it, so that it has a .txt tail, rather than a .bat tail.

Now, if you double-click on it you can edit the text within.

As with the file that turns off the service, all you want in there is one line - but this time a line that turns the service back on:

NET STOP "TabletInputService"

Save this changed version and then rename it to be called something like,

AfterCloneDVDMobile.bat

And, of course, you run this in the same way as the first batch file - by right-clicking on it and choosing,

Run as administrator.

You can of course create batch files for turning other problematic services on and off but, as I said to Yakuza965 at the outset, do please create a system restore before doing anything like that, just in case you accidentally turn off a service that is vital to the running of the PC.

Oh, and of course, if you don't want to see file tails all the time, just reverse the process described high above for making them visible.

Hope this helps others who are having problems with CloneDVD Mobile.

Hi.

Thank you very much for all the detective work, it helps a lot and is appreciated.

Peer is currently on well-deserved ski vacation, and I don't have a map file to locate the address of the access violation, nor did I manage to borrow a Tablet PC or Windows Vista yet. In the meantime, all I can do is ask precocious questions like:

Does Sysinternals Process Monitor (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx) give any indication what action might trigger the error?

Start the process monitor "procmon.exe".
Add filter: "Process Name" "is not" "CloneDVDmobile.exe" then "Exclude"
Start "CloneDVDmobile.exe" and provoke the crash.

Please PM if you want a pre-alpha MSVC 2008 build with debug info logging enabled.

Greetings,
Joe

Thanks BobCrabtree for your kind words.

sorry about you not finding killedit.
but the truth is, I must have been tired when I wrote the post.
The actual app I used was EndItAll

Yakuza965

Ok, I've finally found time to hunt my way through the processes and find out what is causing the problem. Thanks for the recommendation of the app EndItAll which was very useful indeed!

The process that CloneDVD Mobile seems to be clashing with on my laptop is asghost.exe which is described as "Global Virtual Card Host" and which I believe is related to my HP Laptop's built in fingerprint reader (http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/files/asghost). It lives at C:\Program Files\bioscrypt\verisoft\bin\asghost.exe. If I stop this process, then CloneDVD Mobile will load any disc I throw at it. With this process running it will die in the way described by myself previously and by others with the tabtip.exe problem. The only downside is stopping the process kills my fingerprint reader until a reboot.

I have no idea why this would interfere only on DVDs with menus - as my fix for ripping the DVD and removing the menu still works 100% as well.

Thanks to all those who have done so much to help these conflicts be discovered - I was beginning to feel like CloneDVD Mobile was redundant to me but hopefully now these can be solved and it will once again become one of my vital pieces of software!

I have the same problem. As soon as I try to click the source, the windows XP screen appears with the following message:
"CloneDVD mobile Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Please help solve this problem.

I have an HP TX1000 "tablet" as well that had the same problem. Clone DVD Mobile would crash as soon as the video file was selected. Killing the TabletPCInputService solved the problem completely. I am not sure if I have the finger print reader driver installed...

Interestingly an earlier version DID work on my machine. Did an update and crash. I am not sure which earlier version though.

Works just fine under XP and a Vista desktop.

I guess for now it is net stop - net start...

Thank you for the solution!

Try a 2 step process right click on anydvd and select rip to the hard drive then open clone mobile to process the rip file on the hdd and not the dvd-rom.

Ripping to a file caused the same problem. As soon as you select the video file to process the program stops working. Turning off the tablet input process solves the problem. Also I believe it was version 1105 that seemed to work OK even with the process running.

I've bought CloneDVD before so this time rather than try it out first I bought the mobile version without trying it :-( but then had the above problems... In my case I do use Vista on a desktop, but as I have a graphics tablet it also loads tabtip.exe, so once I stopped the service then yes I could use the program.... not good really....

OK, I've tried this with the following result:-
See attached (I hope)
I have also just noticed that it doesn't do it for all disks! I'll investigate and let you know. But it does fail using Stranger than Fiction - R2.
PS I'll gladly help you test an early build. I have a non critical partition on my PC for just such things.

Gareth
27th March 2008, 09:39
OK, that was easier than I thought.
It APPEARS that the disks that work are series type disks. I've tried 3 totally different series (Friends, Primeval, House) and all work perfectly, however if I put in any full film DVD, the second I select the VIDEO_TS folder the program stops responding.
Hope that helps.
