View Full Version : PowerDVD 8 Ultra Reloaded: 8.0 A/V engine + HD-DVD + PowerDVD 7.3 player
mkanet
11th May 2008, 20:30
Cyberlink support confirmed last week that they are not planning on fixing any of the issues they currently have with PowerDVD 8.0 player (that didn't exist in version 7.3). They are working on a future release (Version 8.5) which will eventually address the below mentioned problems:
Player bloat and user interface limitations:
1) Moovielive as an optional install
2) Movie Remix as an optional install
3) Being forced to see the Resume playback every time. <--This is too annoying
4) Redesigning UI skin completely to fix various limitations introduced in version 8
Player's vertical/horizontal size hardcoded to stay relatively large
Player is forced to open up in the middle of the screen in a window.
Control buttons on the bottom of the player are unnecessarily big.
My solution...
Since I wanted to have the latest possible directshow filters from version 8.0 and needed the better player... included with 7.3. I put together a hybrid version which only requires one clean installation of PowerDVD 8.0 and copying a mixture of files from certain versions of 7.3 and 8.0.
Introducing: PowerDVD 8.0 Ultra Reloaded 3.0 ...and now with a fully automated one-step installer "setup.exe" and many skins!

Reloaded-ResumeReset.reg <--- Double click this file before starting PowerDVD with the Reloaded 2.0 interface, and you will now see a resume option that looks like the below image. You can use this reset file again if you select "Don't ask me this question again"; or if you are installing Reloaded 2.0 for the first time:

Reloaded-WindowModeStart.reg <--- Double click this file before starting PowerDVD with the Reloaded 2.0 interface to automatically start player in a Window .

Hi guys, what I have at the top is not the same thing as shown in the link above; as it still keeps the PowerDVD 8 player.
PM me if you want the PowerDVD8Ultra-Reloaded.zip addon.
This addon also includes hd-dvd support for PowerDVD 8 as well.

The correct path for Vista 64 is:
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\PowerDVD8\NavFilter\HDDVDNav.ax"
This needs to be done in safe mode.

I did not need to do it in safe mode at all. I made sure I ran it from the command prompt. I ran command prompt through administrator. Wallah all came up. Though it was important to get the right file, some of the hddvdnav.av are not the correct version.

This is one of the many reasons why I use this special version of PowerDVD 8 Ultra.
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h283/mkanet/powerdvd8.jpg
Do you have this option available when playing every title?
On my PC, it works with only a few ones.
For instance, it never works with Fox BDs.
And I never see the pannel on your picture, I have a triple pannel, related to the new functions (Collect Movie & Remix).
In the biggest of them, there are two buttons: Play and Resume.
Moreover, the auto-resume function has disappeared from my config menu, since after 7.3.3319a, I think.
Or is again, because I use XP???
mkanet
16th May 2008, 21:49
FRG, it sounds like you're still using the normal version of PowerDVD 8 Ultra. The whole point of applying this special update is to have a more useful auto resume feature (where you dont get forced to see it every time as you do it version 8.0). Also this update fixed many problems like getting rid of the bloated features such as Collect Movie, Remix, Moovielive, etc. Cyberlink almost forces you to use these completely useless features. Are you sure you applied the PowerDVD8Ultra-Reloaded.zip file correctly?

Ok then I repeat my previous question : how do I proceed?
Last time I asked on this thread, I received this answer:
http://www.digital-digest.com/articles/PowerDVD_8_Ultra_Enable_HD_DVD_page1.html
This is only the tweak to read HD DVD with v8.
I applied it as soon as it was available.
What else is there to do?
Where is that PowerDVD8Ultra-Reloaded.zip file?

That URL doesnt really have much to do with this thread. PM me if you need help finding the zip file. I tried my best to describe the benefits of the reloaded zip file; not much to do with HD-DVD; even though, it does add that as well.

OK, in the meanwhile, I found it on RapidShare.
Google woudn't give me any decent result :bang:, I had to launch a global search using Copernic, that spitted the answer in no time. 8)
Yet my problems are not over yet:
- After installing and following all the instructions, I cannot play HD DVD any more.
I tried replacing your set of specific HD DVD files by mines (some are not exactly the same in size), and registering again the filter, but it still does not work (I even rebooted to be sure).
- The auto-resume feature is still nowhere to be seen, nor in the configuration menu, nor in actual use of the player: I tryed on a Fox title (The Day After Tomorrow) and a Disney one (Hidalgo). On both after a stop, I was brought back to normal start of the BD. No pannel ever prompted, asking for a choice.
So far, the only positive gain is a new skin...
Any idea or advice?

This addon has only been tested on a clean installation of PowerDVD 8 Ultra with latest patch from Cyberlink. Autoresume feature works corrrectly if you have this pre-requisite.

I tried that...
Total uninstall of PowerDVD 8, reboot, reinstall of the very last version, then application of the patch.
Still does not work.
Does the auto-resume option appear somewhere in the config pannels?
Was it ever tested on WinXP? :D
mkanet

It should work the same under XP as Vista. People have gotten it to work, but never mentioned what OS they were using.
You mentioned that your existing HD-DVD files were different. I think that's a big clue. The HD-DVD included in this package is the same as the one that was first introduced in http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=15409. If the package that's mentioned in that thread works, this will too; as its the same exact files.

The only thing to remember to keep your reloaded pack while staying up to date with latest patches is the follow:
Remember in the instructions it says to make a backup copy of your original PowerDVD8 folder?
Well, you need to put that back the way it was, then install whatever new patch Cyberlink has to offer.
After you have your PowerDVD 8 with the latest patch, simply add the Reloaded Pack 2.0 back again.... and the skins package.

That works fine for BR, but not HD-DVD, at least when I tried it. There's probably a combination of Reloaded and the updated HD-DVD hack that will work, I just didn't have time to try it out last night.

I've done it in Vista 32. I have no idea about XP but I'm assuming it'll work just fine there, too. Give it another shot and if you have problems I'm sure someone here can help. But it does work, so, if you have an issue we should be able to figure it out.

Struggling to get this to work. WinXp environment with Xbox HD add on.
Can install 1730 and get the HD DVD add on installed, but when using PowerDVD, I do not get the HDDVD logo in the bottom right corner as depicted in other people's screenshots. It leaves me in file mode whether I use the actual disc or if I used an ISO with VCD. As a result, the movie will not play. What am I missing? :bang:

If you're getting file mode, you definitely dont have the right files. The most straightforward way to make this work is install a clean copy of PowerDVD 8 with the latest patch and follow the instructions for the reloaded pack. It works every time under Vista/XP.

I'm having some problems getting HD DVD to work with the new build and reloaded pack as well (Win XP).
HD DVD works fine in the 1622 build, with or without reloaded pack, but not with the 1730 build.
I tried both with a fresh install and just patching my working build, but neither worked. When I try to play a disc, it says disc mode just briefly, and then the player closes.
I only have PowerDVD8 installed, but from reading the thread I thought I didn't need 7.3 if I used the reloaded pack.
And I don't need to comment anything in the CLDShowX.ini file, correct?
I just wanted to check and see if I was missing something obvious.
The HDDVDNav.ax file I am using is still the one from the beta version of 8
(version 1.1.0.1405).
Thanks in advance.

I know you probably dont want to hear this; and probably wont help you a whole lot, but you need to focus on figuring out what's different about your installation of PowerDVD 8 "Ultra" and the one you download from Cyberlink. If anything is left lingering on your machine from previous hacked versions of PDVD; even one file... it may not work.
There are no ini files to change. If you had a previous version of PowerDVD 8 Ultra, and uninstalled already... I would remove all traces of it from your file system (ie C:\program files\cyberlink\*, anything under C:\documents and settings" related to cyberlink, and anything in your registry that mentions Cyberlink". Reboot after you do this. Be very careful what you delete and remove not to break anything else!
Good luck!

PDVD reloaded is very different. It will give you HD DVD playback, but, it combines aspects of PDVD7 with PDVD8 to give you a more unique player. The HD DVD hack that I posted about is just dropping HD DVD playback support into a basic PDVD8 environment. If you're having trouble making it work, you're not alone, but, if you post your issues in that thread, we can try to help. Unless you want the reloaded experience in which case you're in the right place.

One of complaints about PowerDVD is that there seems to be no way to make the navigator bar appear using the Remote. In Media Center for example when I pause a DVD I get to see how much time is remaining. In PowerDVD the only way I can do this is to move the mouse which is not very useful if I'm sitting 15 feet away and using the remote.
Will the Reloaded version solve this problem? If not, I'd love a suggestion of a work around. Thanks!

I'm using a Vista Media Center Remote (Actually a Harmony that is programed to act like Vista Media Center). There is no Display button. I noticed on the Cyberlink website that the Cyberlink remote does have a Display button. What I need to know is if there is a keyboard command that will mimic that same function? Any ideas?

Im not near my PowerDVD PC. But below are all the known keyboard shortcuts that you can use for your remote control. I'm pretty sure one of them does what you want:

I've tried every one of those key shortcuts and none of them display the navigation slider or show the time elapsed/remaining in movie. They only thing that seems to show the navigation slider is moving the mouse. I know there "must" be a key that does this, but I can't seem to find one.

Miss the pop up for resume / start at beginning for BluRay discs that I used to have on PDVD 7 for normal DVDs.
Heroes doesn't have the resume option on the menu available, and always goes back to first menu on inserting disc, or stopping and then playing the BD DVD.
I have PM'd for a hint / reg fx forthis.
On latest ( 2021 ?? ) PDVD 8 ultea update, Win XP / SP3.

Good luck!

No. Just put the installer files in a temporary folder and run setup.exe. You dont have to touch the powerDVD folder. You can delete the temporary folder you made after you install Reloaded. Its not different than installing any other program that comes in a zip file. :)

I installed the automated setup for PDVD 8 Reloaded last night. I simply double-clicked the "setup.exe", received the registry change confirmation and rebooted my WinXP machine. The reloaded version plays my HDDVD and Bluray discs as described with less bloat.
I have PDVD 7.3 OEM and the trial version of PDVD 8 installed-thanks!

mkanet, I updated powerdvd 8 to the latest version last night, then ran the setup.exe. It worked like a charm. The only thing is that I can't get powerdvd to open in fullscreen mode. (Not a big problem, I have the energy to still simply double-click the window ;) ) I also noticed that when I right click in the window, the options window reads "powerdvd 7" I'm glad to have hd dvd playback again. I was going to try samuraihl's work around, but happily stumbled upon your thread. Thank you very much for the custom installer.

Yes, I clicked on it a few times. Was I supposed to click on it before running the setup file, or after? I ran the setup and then clicked on the three reg files (not the hddvd one) and then opened powerdvd 8. As I said, it's no biggie... I'm just happy to have hd dvd playback.:)

Not sure what I did wrong, but HD DVD doesnt quite work for me with this (Blu ray images play fine). I did a new install of PDVD8 Ultra (full), opened it to enter the activation code, closed PDVD, then ran the Reloaded setup.exe.
I was prompted that install was successful, so I proceeded to try to play an HD DVD iso (Aeon Flux) but there was no sound or video--just a black screen--the PDVD progress bar was active, indicating a file was being played. At one point a b&w rating disclaimer appeared, followed by the menu CG only (no video or sound again). I selected to play the movie but the same occured--no sound or video, but PDVD acted as if it were playing.
Unfortunately I didnt have time to experiment further, but will try a reinstall this weekend. Just wanted to post my initial experience and I'll troubleshoot from there as I can.

The way I would do it is back up your non-reloaded folder, install reloaded. Then when you need to upgrade to the new patch, simply put back your older non-reloaded folder, upgrade to the newer patch, then re-install reloaded.

PM Sent. I do have a question, how does reloaded 3 get rid of the bloat of 8? I have stayed away from 8 because of this even though there is a hack to get HD DVD back. I may have to look at it again however now that this is available.

PowerDVD 8 (under the hood) has the latest possible support for blu-ray playback. However, builtin to it's bloated player are features that nobody seems to use (described in the first post of this thread).
The purpose of Reloaded 3.0 is to replace the bloated PowerDVD 8 player with a smaller, sexier looking player with with several skins to choose from (the player from the latest possible PowerDVD 7.3 build).
So, you get best of both worlds with PowerDVD 8 + Reloaded. And, now, it's easier than ever to install.

I just want to confirm that it works Reloaded 3 worked 100% in XP SP2, using PDVD 8 build 1730 with latest PDVD8 patch applied (don't remember that patch#). HD DVD playback completely restored now, all tweaks works the way they're supposed to and of course Bluray playback wasn't affected by applying this wonderful fix.
Thanks Mkanet for sharing the fix, you did a great job!
I would suggest everyone using Power DVD8 (any version) to apply this fox so that you can play both HD formats in one peace of software. It also makes PowerDVD 8 less bloated by removing unnecessary functions.

I know that sometimes the link stops working because the file has been deleted for some reason, but then just reupload the file and edit the new link in the first post of this thread. :agree:;)

Due to the nature of PowerDVD 8 Ultra Reloaded we would appreciate no links being posted in the forums.
IOW, I don't want to see any links posted. :policeman:

The module "C:\Program Files\PowerDVD8\Navfilter\HDDVDNav.ax" failed to load
Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependant .DLL files.
When I check my Cyberlink folder there is a FILE (not a FOLDER) called PowerDVD8..no wonder it cant find the file it needs..
Any ideas?

lol - I'm an idiot. I only had PDVD7 and not 8 installed! All installed ok now but a small-ish problem.
When I played Transformers HD-DVD with PDVD8 Reloaded it is very jerky, not unwatchable but jerky. PDVD7 is fine....any ideas?

mm, this is very odd. Before installing PDVD8 and Reloaded, PDVD7 happily had Ati HA turned on and kept on the ATI Hardware Acceleration option in PDVD.
Since the install of PDVD8 and Reloaded, the option is turned on when I start the program, stays on when the disc menu plays, but auto turns off if I look at the menu once I am playing the HD-DVD film itself....?
I've checked my ATI menu and the Hardware Acceleration option is on there.
PDVD7 (which is still installed) now also has this problem grrr.!
Help!

PowerDVD 7 and PowerdVD 8 have nothing to do with each other. The only thing they have in common is they depend on the same hardware and drivers (they run on the same machine). The whole point of Reloaded is so you only have one clean installation of PowerDVD 8; and simply install reloaded on top it. If I were you, I would uninstall both PowerDVD 7 and PowerdVD 8 (rebooting between each uninstall), reinstall PowerDVD 8, apply any Cyberlink updates, and apply Reloaded. Good luck!

ok, unistalled all and reinstalled PDVD8 and reloaded, this is an update of what happens:
Since the install of PDVD8 and Reloaded, the HA option is turned on when I start the program, stays on when the film menu plays, when I start the film the screen is green but there is sound paying and the PDVD menus are still available. When I go back to the main menu the HA has auto turned off and if I look at the config menu once I am playing the HD-DVD again it is off and greyed out ....?
I've checked my ATI menu and the Hardware Acceleration option is on there.

Hmm.. I would uninstall PowerDVD 8 at this point, and reinstall PowerDVD 8 only. That would put a clean installation of PowerDVD 8. If you still have the same issue, its something on your machine that doesnt agree with PowerDVD 8. Cyberlink support might be able to help you out better to get it to work correctly on your machine.
Reloaded is a completely benign installation and just replaces higher level items that get removed completely with a simple uninstall of PowerDVD 8... leaving no traces behind.

thanks for this, installed perfectly works with powerdvd 8.2214, xp sp2, anydvd hd 6.4.7.9. Install was easy. I only have a problem with Bourne Supremacy hd-dvd, but others work okay. Pdvd 7.3 still plays the Bourne disk, so I can just use it for that one. It's very nice not to have the bloatware on the pdvd8 player.

Hi there,
first of all, thank you mkanet for your quick answer to my PM requesting the file.
Before installing the patch, I checked Cyberlink's website and updated to the latest 8.0.2217.50 build. Thus I noticed Cyberlink has now reintroduced the ability to set the resume options/behaviour in the software options, and the very anoying resume screen has disapeared.
Patch installed flawlessly, and works like a charm.
HD DVD playback is back! (I did not try with AVC codec, I have only VC1-coded HD DVDs)
Great job, mkanet!
Works perfectly in Vista Media Center with MyMovies.
One point does not work: autorun on disk insertion (neither when HD DVD disk inserted in drive, nor when image mounted), due to the lack of the appropriate option in the HD DVD section of the autorun control panel.
Did I something wrong? Or is this a known issue?
Other question: I did not manage to change the player's wallpaper without changing the skin. Is there a workaround?
Thanks a lot, one more time.

I don't know if am alone having this issue, but after installing Reloaded 3.0, PDVD does not start after I insert a HD DVD disk (nor after mounting an iso image).
So I searched for a workaround and, after studying the registry, I wrote the following .reg file, that fixed the problem.
I write it down here, so it can be helpful for anyone needing it.
(I commented it out)

Hmm.. I'm not sure what happened in your case. That's already included and installed automatically in Reloaded 3.0... did you happen to notice the included HDDVD.reg file in the reloaded package :)? I never heard back from anyone complaining about it out of >500 or so people who have installed it; and worked for me. Anyway, if you have a more updated reg file that you think works better for more people, I can update reloaded...

Well, I experienced the same issue on two different PCs, both running Vista SP1, so I thought this function lacked in Reloaded.
(I didn't look at what was packed in it).
As I had no reply to my post, I simply tried it on my own...
Perhaps it did not work in my case because I uninstalled PDVD7 after I installed PDVD8 and before I applied the Reloaded patch.

Hello, I am long time user of reloaded 3.
However i just obtained powerdvd 8 updated to the latest 2217-50 patch, I totally reinstalled powerdvd8 checked and then installed the patch2217-50, checked again i see the patch in the about dialog showing 2217 installed. I then can run 'the day the earth stood still blu-ray' and all the new planet of the apes blu-ray disks no problem they startup and run fine.
I then want to re-install reloaded-3.0..
after i install the patch, i see the patch 2217 is NO longer reported in the about column, (btw- how did you get your powerdvd to report 2217 still installed? i do not see this on my screen) i then can now play hd-dvd file however all the disks 'the planet of the apes disks, and the day the earth stood still' powerdvd now reports 'well it is the disk actually' reporting you need to get a patch for your player to play this disk. i copied the whole cyberlink of course before putting in reloaded, if i ruin powerdvd from the copy 'before reloaded' the planet of the apes and the day the earth stood still work perfectly fine.
have you tried either of these? and how once again did you get the 2217-50 installed and working with reloaded? ie: showing on the output about screen..???
anyone else experiencing this? i would really like to have full 2217 and hd-dvd support, so i can play all my disks, right now, any of these new Fox disks can not play unless i have full 2217, and i can not play any of my hd-dvd disks unless i have reloaded installed..so i seem to be stuck.
thank you

Works fine. There are a lot of people who update to the latest patch when it comes out with Reloaded. You probably should uninstall PDVD8, reboot, reinstall it and add the latest patch, then install Reloaded 3.0

Wow, interesting have you tried playing 'the day the earth stood still'? or any of the original planet of the apes movies on blu-ray? none will work with reloaded 3.0 installed on my system.
secondly i did just that re-install the whole product, and then patch up powerdvd8 to 2217, and then to make sure it is was installed ok i played the day the earth stood still worked great.
ok so now i installed reloaded 3.0 and it now will not play the day the earth stood still or any of the planet of the apes disks.
thirdly, i still would like to know why your system shows the 2217 patch indication in the window on the about box, on my system AFTER i install the reloaded 3.0 i no longer can see the 2217 in the about powerdvd seletion window.
i do not see the entries you do in your window. i find that strange itself..
if you can or have access to any of the new fox blu-rays that slysoft is saying will not work with anydvdHD will also have problems with reloaded 3.0 as the new bd+ stuff will be not supported. the blu-ray of 'the day the earth stood still' does not even start with any version of powerdvd 8 ...it must be 2217 patch or the disk displays in the player 'please update your player' ...
thank you, i look forward to hearing from anyone who tests this on their systems.

9th December 2008, 09:08
Hey cool, that worked, when you click on the username you see the extra information. ok i can now confirm i have 2217 loaded, and i also can confirm that when the patch 'reload3.0' is applied it no longer permits the new fox disks to play, ie: the day the earth stood still, or the planet of the apes movies, etc.. there are many fox disks, that seem to be doing something wth bd+ (slysoft is also having issues with it) but if i shutdown anydvd hd and then run powerdvd8 'original patched to 2217' and also run powerdvd8 with reloaded 3.0 installed, these disks will ONLY play with the original powerdvd8 and no reloaded patched in.
something in reloaded is producing this problem. please i hope someone else has these movies, try it prove me wrong or i am perhaps doing something wrong, so far i am only able to get reloaded 3.0 working when these disks do not.
if reloaded is not installed, all these disks work perfectly fine.
thank you
charles2010
p.s. i do now see 2217 by clicking the user name, i see exactly what others see now. strange that these films stop working even though technically it is updated to 2217, something in the patch makes the disk think it is no longer updated sufficient, the error coming up on the screen is from the disk, this is the 'movie blu-ray' itself stating the player needs an update.

Hi mkanet,
Works great with version 1730:bowdown:
But got a strange issue with HD-DVD and version 2217 or 2217a.
HD-DVD playback itself is working, but no selection displayed in title or root menus.
I can see the menu's banners, but nothing to click on (languages, play, bonus, ...)
I tried by upgrading Reloaded 1730 version to 2217 and reapplying reload,
and by removing/installing original PDVD 8 Ultra, upgrade to 2217 then applying Reload.
Not a big issue as Reloaded 1730 version is working fine
But just curious.

Thanks for the program and support. Took a while but HD and all Iso's now working. Had to beat the Audio to death in PDVD8n but finally got the SPDIF to work. I recomend this program to anyone looking to streamline playback.

Hello,
I have just tested (with some delay :o) this version 3.0.
I noticed a little bug : when scrolling through the audio tracks (or the subtitles), when I come to the last proposed, instead of going back to the first one, I get stuck there.
If I want to go further, I have to right-click, and select a new track from the menu (with subtitles, I cannot go to "no subtitle").
This happen only with Blu-ray (HD DVD works fine) and did not happen, before installing the pack.
Can anyone else confirm?
FYI, I am using PowerDVD 8.0.4613.50 [2214U_TaRe38].

Thanks a lot for this.I only own two HD-DVD (Batman Begins and Road Warrior) but both seem to be working perfectly. I was wondering if you could possably add the following hacks/mods to Reloaded. I know how to do these manually but I have no idea how to write an automatic script or anything.
Keep Aeroglass on while watching HD-DVDs/Blu-rays
Remove autostarting content
Remove RichVideo
Changes the cursor hide time in Full Screen to 1 second instead of 3

PowerDVD8 will not play HD-DVDs, period. There will be no official support for it and it will not be added back into PowerDVD. The only way to play them with PowerDVD8 is using Reloaded or the other various hacks but I'm not sure any other methods work other than Reloaded these days.
I dumped PowerDVD8 so I'm not even sure anymore about what works and what doesn't.

Can I get a copy of Reloaded 3? Just got a killer deal on some HD DVD's and didn't realize 8 Ultra wouldn't play them.
Thanks so much!

Add me to the list of people very happy with Reloaded. I think it's terrible that cyberlink removed HD-DVD support from Powerdvd and I am grateful for reloaded.

OK. Many thanks for this, now a (probably) stupid question.
If I've been running PDVD 7.3 (for HD-DVD) and 8 (for Blu-ray) should this Reloaded install affect my existing 7.3 performance. I'm guessing by my post-reloaded experience that the answer is yes.
After Reloaded was installed I still couldn't play HD-DVDs in PDVD 8, and they no longer played properly in 7.3.

No. Reloaded has nothing to do with an existing installation of 7.3. In fact it doesnt even make sense to use PowerDVD 7.3 if you already have a clean installation of PowerDVD 8 Ultra + Reloaded 3.0... thats the whole point. My suggestion is either use only PowerDVD 7.3 or PowerDVD 8 Ultra + Reloaded 3.0 (which does both the latest blu-ray and HD-DVD).
Good luck.

OK I'll try a clean install of Reloaded without 7.3, but if HD-DVDs play nicely in 7.3 with 8 installed as well, and then don't play in 7.3 or Reloaded there must be some negative interaction surely?
Also, is there anything more I need to do to restore my backed up PDVD8 folder than just paste it into the Cyberlink Program Files folder?
thanks again.

Just so you know, PowerDVD 7.3 and 8 should be treated as completely separate programs. They dont share the same files or registry settings or shared filter, dlls, etc. My guess is something happened while trying to install Reloaded that inadvertently affected your PowerDVD 7.3 negatively. As long as you have a clean, default installation of PowerDVD 8 with Reloaded 3, I cant imagine why you would need 7.3 for anything.
In your case, since things arent working correctly, I wouldnt worry about restoring anything right now. First try to uninstall everything PowerDVD related (where there are no Cyberlink folder under program files at all), and reboot after they are all gone, then install a fresh copy of PowerDVD 8 Ultra and the latest Cyberlink patch. Then, install Reloaded. If you are still having problems, you can uninstall PowerDVD 8 (which also uninstalls every trace of Reloaded completely as well) and cleanly install the programs you had before doing this (putting back things exactly the way they were).

I know that's the idea (and hopefully will be the case in practice), but I've had very strange experiences with PDVD generally. The only 7.3 build that ever really worked for my HD-DVDs was the 3730 patch which dates from Jan 08 (I think), none of the newer ones were usable. I never managed to get the HD-DVD fix working for 8 before now, so I'm really hoping Reloaded does the trick. Maybe with a complete uninstall of everything and a bit of a registry clean-out I might get some joy.
