AnyDVD HD requires purchasers of AnyDVD pay $30.00. Will AnyDVD BluRay require purchasers of AnyDVD HD to pay $30.00 to get that, as well, or will AnyDVD BluRay be free to purchasers of AnyDVD HD?

Please people, slow down with these "Blu Ray" threads already! They haven't even mentioned they are working on implementing Blu Ray support and people are asking how much it will cost and if I can participate in testing it.
Let's enjoy the marvel that is Anydvd HD and wait for some type of announcement on Blu Ray (if it ever comes). And no, the mention that Blu Ray MAY be supported in the future is NOT an announcement.

I think a lot of people are getting interested because of this:
http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=1542
"Tom Xiang, Marketing Director: "When we considered Blu-Ray, our strategy
was simply to initially support HD-DVD and await further developments
in the marketplace. Already during the beta phase we got many
inquiries about Blu-Ray so we decided to go ahead and also provide
support for this as soon as possible. Blu-Ray employs the same
AACS process as HD-DVD. An implementation was really just a matter
of form. A beta version is planned for availability this quarter.""
But nothing has been officially decided.

Well, that seems pretty definite to me.:D I would love Blu Ray support as I support both formats. I still think HD-DVD is the better of the two imo and hope Blu Ray goes the way of dodo bird. Sadly, in the end, it's all about support. It looks like Blu may be gaining momentum. Oh, we also can't forget about the potential for even more fun with BD+:policeman:

I recently saw in the news that Blu-Ray is kicking HD's ass. For every one HD DVD that is sold there are about 15 Blu-Ray's.
People are predicting that if it keeps going the way it is then HD will be dead by April.
I think the PS3 has a lot to contribute to Blu-Rays success. People were going to buy the PS3 no matter how much it cost. The built in Blu-Ray player was just a plus.
Sony knows what they are doing. Why would I go buy an HD DVD player for 6-800+ when I could buy a PS3 for 600 which has Blu-Ray capabilities, but ofcourse also plays PS3 games.
In terms of XBOX360 releasing their HD DVD accessory for only 200 dollars. Yah, it's only 200 dollars. So an XBOX360 + the HD DVD drive comes out to the same price of a PS3. Although the HD DVD player is an accessory. Accessories have never done well in terms of sales with video game consoles. People are lazy and don't want to have to buy something extra.
HD DVD will become the new sony betamax.............dead. Sony learnt from their mistakes.

You might be right but...I would count HD-DVD out just yet. I'm sorry to say but HD-DVD is just a better product then Blu Ray. I also thought Betamax was better then VHS but that didn't make it succeed. Time will tell and in the end, it's all about content. For me, I made a personal (albeit stupid) decision to hold off on any HD optical format until the release of one of my favorite films, The Reservoir Dogs. I decided when that happened, I would support THAT format. (I know, it was silly). I couldn't resist and bought in (quite early) to BOTH formats. It's nice to have choices.

No, Blue-Ray is just an "add-on". If you insistence on renaming, we have to charge an upgrade fee :D

People could get confused though, AnyDVD-HD sounds only like HD-DVDs, and not Blu-Ray.

Right, but people will get upset if we charge them again 8)
From my point of view, confused is better..

I know a lot of people do not like BluRay, but I am glad that SlySoft has decided to include this in the AnyDVD/AnyDVD HD product. I myself have chosen to go the BluRay avenue.
Thanks for deciding to include this option.

I saw that story also, but I thought the ratio was more like 3 BR to 1 HD, regardless, what wasn't mentioned was that they were only using sales numbers from the day BluRay was released on forward and didn't include the two or three months of sales that HD-DVD has on BluRay, nor was it taking into account (actually it exploits it) the "new factor" of a new product (or technology) vs. a product that has been on the market for a few months. The so called study was funded by Sony who needed the numbers for a planned advertising campaign in which they are going to try to claim victory in the format war.
If you look at the real sales numbers, HD-DVD is almost 5 to 1 over BluRay in the number of products actually in use by consumers, and Sony knows it which is why they didn't include it. I believe HD-DVD will ultimately win out because Sony doesn't learn from past mistakes, and in fact has made the very same mistake with BluRay that they did with BetaMax. That mistake can be summed up in two words, Adult Film. Sony blocked it from BetaMax while VHS embraced it, and Sony is blocking it from BluRay while HD-DVD is embracing it. Whether you agree with adult film or deplore it as filth and smut, you can't just cut a multi-billion dollar segment of business right out of your model or you're behind before you even begin. As seedy and illegitimate as that sibling might be, it is hard for anyone to deny that that industry has completely driven media technology for decades, not to mention the Internet as well.

I'm interested in the statistic ratios only using the BD play or the HD player. Not the HD drive for the xbox or the PS3 as this shouldn't be a factor and can set false ratios well I think.

I agree. I think a lot of the initial BR sales might have been to PS3 owners that said "Hey, I've got BluRay on my playstation so I'll go buy a disc or two and check it out." But after that initial sale how many will go back and buy more? Even with the BR support on PS3, honestly how many people sit back in their living room and watch a movie on their game console? That model didn't really work for DVD, and it wont work for BluRay or HD-DVD either. Sales to that segment will probably never be anything more than novelty, and in fact may work against it. People could say "My PS3 already has BluRay, so I'll go ahead and buy the HD-DVD player for my entertainment system so I can use both formats if I want to."

Yes this is what I was thinking. Maybe a Blu Ray player vs. HD-DVD player on sales and don't include the xbox or the PS3 and see the outcome as this would show that one is leading over the other and it isn't blu ray I bet. :D

I agree again. HD-DVD has far more discs in homes than BluRay does, and I think a lot of that is due to HD-DVD being first to market by almost three months. And not just any three months, but the three months that make up the Christmas season.

So what is the upgrade charge to HD for current customers. All I see is a $30 fee on the site. I have not yet bought a HD/BR but will this year when the dust settles.8)
