I just bought my key for AnyDVD-HD and a couple of days later, I received an update notice, its for the older AnyDVD, do I need to update or just ignore it?
One more thing... Has anyone been able to burn Open Season yet?

You need to update. Anydvd and Anydvd HD share the same program code. Your license key determines what features you receive. But the download is exactly the same for both programs.
One more thing... Has anyone been able to burn Open Season yet?
No one is burning HD-DVDs.
If you mean the regular dvd, then yes. Many people have.
