View Full Version : Movies you keep on your iPod all the time

While I exchange movies on my iPod often, there are a few that
are a main staple that I keep on there to tide me over while
traveling, here is a list of what I keep most of the time;

Anaconda
Anacondas
Arrival
Assassins
Captain Ron
Murder by Death
My Cousin Vinny
Rat Race
The Run Down
Sin City
Tremors
300

while I don't have The Princess Bride on there yet, I think it's
because I've seen it OVER and OVER so many times :)
otherwise it would be on there too...

So, do any of you guys/gals have a few movies you just keep
on your iPod all the time? Or do you watch and remove.

btw I've the older 80gig Classic iPod, bought it one month and
15 days before they came out with the new 160gig, they said
if you had bought your iPod within the last 30 days, they'd
exchange it the newer 160gig, missed it by that much!
I emailed them but no answer, ah well...the old 80 is doing
fine so far, knock on my head

Strange, can't be that I'm the only one that leaves
certain movies on an iPod all the time?

The rest of us are just getting around to it, and getting the iPod touch (or whatever) that makes it feasible.
Some movies you really can treat like novels and some you can't and I'm figuring it all out now .
"Dr. Strangelove" works on an iPod Touch but "The Lord Of The Rings" trilogy belongs on the largest screen you can give it.

It's an amazing device, bought some cables, with that, you can connect
the iPod up to the tv in your hotel room, if there are jacks available, some
hotels are a bit stingy, and watch the movie there, so I save my files at
the highest settings available and the resulting movie looks better than
what gets piped into the room.

At a Holiday Inn I have to go to a lot in FL, they don't have tv's with jacks
on them, so when I know I'm going to be down there for a week or more
I bring along a projector and project it on the wall, keeps me out of trouble
at night 8)

In Europe, you need an adapter to go on the back of the tv, a Scart which
then lets you connect up RCA cables or Svideo to the tv, spent a few weeks
in Spain, for work just outside Madrid, and about the only english speaking
stations on tv were CNN and BBC, that's about the time I first got the iPod
and down loaded Season 7 of CSI Las Vegas, very nice, at least I now had
and option!

So it's not just to view on the iPod, although I do that while on the plane
usually tv episodes, so you're not staring at a small screen for more than
40 some minutes...

Yes.... a movie on iPod is like an audio book.
I want 105 inches or nothing at all. :D

When you travel, you don't have a lot of options and I travel
quite a bit. So, hooking the iPod up to the hotel TV is as close
as I can get, and believe me, I've even thought about 'renting'
a big screen tv when I stayed in places longer than 3 weeks :agree:
But, that's not too easy to do and I think the hotel would frown
on it, or the TV'd be gone when I got back at night!

So, on the plane, it's better than nothing, but in the hotel, you have
options to go from the iPod via RCA cables or Svideo cable to the
TV, which makes it a little more easier to live with

Just import the .mp4 file to Itunes before you sync your IPOD. Put all yours songs on a few CDs and then import them again.

What software tool do you recommend to rip your DVD movies to mp4 format for importing into iTunes?

Only two really, CloneDVDMobile or Handbrake.
The first you pay for the second is free and both work well, provided you read the instructions!

Your only other consideration is whether you want to play the rips on your living room TV or copy them to your iPod ( I have a new iPod Touch so they have to run on that!) .
