I have read that VLC player will play VC-1 files. In other words, has anyone tried using the free media player to play HD DVD fiels?

I was told that VLC was unable to play HD and Blu-Ray (for the moment at least). I hope SlySoft will create its own player software, or another free player adds these options.

I installed the latest nightly builds of both VLC and MPlayer and neither could play VC-1 encoded EVObs.

VLC plays m2ts files (Mpeg2 Transport Streams) that many Bluray films use fine as long as they are not encrypted...
