When installed any of both versions cause windows xp pro (32bit) almost every time to show a message and a 30 second countdown, then shuts down and reboots, no bsod. I'm barely able to see the message before my pc reboots, however here it is as shown in the event log:

What happens if the machine is restarted? Does VCD work as it should?

Yes it works fine, isn't odd? Forgot to mention a few days ago win xp pro would not boot because of a registry corruption error, corrected it by restoring from a full image backup i had from 1 day before. Never had any of those problems before installing vcd, so far that pc has been working rock solid ever since i put it together about 1.5 years ago.

I have these problems too. My Vista 64 randomly freezes (no event log entry) altough I don't use VCD but it runs in the background. Everything seems to be OK when I uninstall VCD.
