AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 compatability

I sent this email to Slysoft as an FYI problem I encountered. Wanted to put it here because it may be of help to some readers with similar problems. This is my first post so excuse any FuPa's.

Version : 6.4.5.9
OS : Windows Vista
Drive(s): HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55L SCSI DVD/CD ROM.
Memorex DVD+-RAM 530L v1 SCSI
DVD/CD ROM.
Title(s): Almost any dvd.

I have found that when I use CloneDVD2 to make a backup of a DVD I have previously ripped to disk while AnyDVD is running (ie. shows in tray) 80% of time disk will error with a "10 11 W2 prob. caused by bad media". Yet when I stop AnyDVD resident program B4 starting cloneDVD2 I have never received the error or had any problems with Burning or DVD's recorded using same settings and media on same devices.

That means that the writer reported a burning error to the software and stopped the burn process. This is either caused by bad blanks or another CD/DVD software interfering in the writing process. When the writer gets avsignal from another CD/DVD program ignoring the safety protocols, it stops immediately because it cannot perform two writing processes at once. DirectCD, Roxio Audio Studio, Nero InCD/BackItUp, MyCD, PlexTools, B's Clip, RecordNow, Simple Backup and special burner software are known to occasionally disturb other writing programs.

9. I'm getting Writedvd 10 11 W2 errors. Why?

a) Are you using junk blank media? If you're not using Taiyo Yuden (not Valueline), Verbatim Datalife Plus, or Maxell Broadcast Quality, then chances are the answer to this question is "yes". Stay far away from Memorex, Princo, TDK B-grade junk sold from Costcos, Ritek, regular Maxell, Fuji, etc. that are not made in Japan.
For +R DL blank media use Verbatim (preferably made in Singapore) or MAM-A +R DL 8x only.
b) Click this (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=2516) and read FULLY (because the same advice applies)
c) Do you have Musicmatch Jukebox on your system? If so, click this (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=1293)
d) Remove packet writing software from your system (including Directcd, Incd, drag to disc, DLA, etc.)
e) Click this (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=1307) and read
f)
i) Ensure Anydvd is running.
ii) Put the problematic original movie dvd in your burner. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
iii) Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
iv) Select "Create Logfile"
v) Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
vi) A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
viii) Go to your My Documents folder
ix) You will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar; see step f)
x) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like http://forum.slysoft.com/images.slysoft/editor/attach.gif (in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
xi) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
xii) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
xiii) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
xiv) click "upload"
xv) Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

I had read all the frequently asked questions and similar problem posts when my problem started. I did not post as a "help me" but as a "this may help you" post, as I spent many hours tracking and finding my problem I offered my work around to help others till slysoft resolves the issue in future releases. thanks for your concern.

Slysoft doesn't need to resolve this issue as there isn't a problem, but rather an issue that typically needs to be resolved on the user's end. By the way, Slysoft isn't the official developer of Clonedvd. Elaborate Bytes is.

That implies the issue lies elsewhere.

The vast majority of users do not disable Anydvd before running Clonedvd. In fact, Anydvd is required to be running in the background when running Clonedvd in order to decrypt dvds properly. Consequently, if you wish to actually resolve this issue, you would be better off providing the requested information rather than using a workaround that is not advisable nor required by thousands of users: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=9914 (and answer all questions fully if you desire assistance. Otherwise, I fear you may be waiting indefinitely for your issue to be resolved. I would also be interested in your motherboard's brand name and model number.)

I own an LG GSA-H55L and can't say that I've had any issues whatsoever with it and either AnyDVD or CloneDVD. Make sure you are using the latest firmware and follow Webslinger's advice.
