Anyone have an insight as to why ANY DVD is disabling my drives once I place my computer in STANDBY Mode. I muswt re-boot in order the drives to recognized and often I must un-install and reinstall ANYDVD....Any ideas? Much appreciated.

This happened to me as well (and others after reading many posts).
No one seems to allude or own up to the fact that there could be a problem w/the software.....
I spent a whole weekend reinstalling XP Pro and all of my software/patches/updates:mad: ....I'm not about to do that again so I'll "suffer along" without the software.

I had that happen when I first got AnyDVD, over a year ago. But the next update they did, after that, fixed my problem. I never reported it, and never found out why it happened. All has been well since....... :)

I am having the same exact problem. I have a LG 4163B running A106 firmware.
This happened once before running AnyDVD trial. After multiple de-installs, remove drive , update firmware, I was able to work again.
I purchased last night and still have same issue. I opened a ticket at 10:30 EST and still have not received any information.
I have tried following steps:
1. Re-install AnyDVD - Drive shows as disabled
2. Start without AnyDVD - Drive shows nothing when I put in a disc. Lights flash and then nothing.
3. Went back to System restore from last week when this worked
4. Cleaned registry each step
5. Started in Safe mode and still can't see data in drive.

Look in your drive(s) properties to see if its disabled in there.

anydvd has been disabling drives for a few months now I believe it has been since I downloaded clonedvd which was great except when it ran out I never purchased the key and it was after that..... that anydvd is disabling drives and causing my pc to freeze and I can't burn Saw3 for some reason using dvd shrink and the other programs I do not want to download because I had them before and did not like them like adydvd with dvd shrink it just does everything with a click of a button and your done . and also when i try to use nero my pc will freeze each and every time only with anydvd .
also I try to do a reauthor with dvd shrink 3.1 and it shows the 2 folders instead of the movie menu so I had this problem with Bewitched and anydvd came out with an update that fixed the issue but not for a week afterwards.

Do you have Nero InCd installed? If so uninstall it using the Nero Clean tool. I have used AnyDvd for probably over a year on about 15 different dvd burners and never had it disable a drive. I would check with your pc manufacturer and make sure that you have all its current updates available including any bios updates.

I have used AnyDVD for years, never, ever had it disable any of my drives. If you are talking about the message in the program that AnyDVD is disabled on drive D or whatever drive letter applies when AnyDVD is not enabled. That is just a fact, AnyDVD IS disabled for the optical drives when it isn't enabled.
This just means the program: AnyDVD is disabled. I see no logical way that AnyDVD could possibly disable a drive.

This is very strange.
I brought out an old 4x Optorite external USB drive and used it to burn a disk as a test. Just on a hunch I put the disc in to my LG 4163 drive and it started playing. Now it is working fine.
I had actually believed everybody who said this was a hardware problem and was going to buy a new DVD burner tomorrow.
I would caution anybody not to blame the drive laser or hardware. I searched multiple sites and found at least 25 reports of the same exact problem.
By the way, I am not impressed with Slysoft's vaunted support. I opened the ticket 24 hours ago and still have not gotten a response to my ticket. I know the SLA is 2 days, but they say most get a response in first 2-6 hours.
The product is great when it works, but dangerous when it doesn't.

I have had this trouble also. I updated to the new version of anydvd and it fixed 1 computer but it didn't fix my other one I tried. It will decode the movie but as soon as it is ready to burn it kciks the movie out and say there is no drive in this computer.

I checked my drives and they didn't show that they were disabled, but I re-installed AnyDVD and it worked for me.
If you look under the properties of your drive and go the the button that says driver details....it should show one for AnyDVD. When I checked it, it was the one for the previous version. After I uninstalled it, it was gone, so maybe the drivers are causing problems. Try uninstalling each time you update versions.....
Hope this helps!!

My drive stopped working again. I am really disgusted. I did check the drivers and they were from the previous version. I de-installed the program and drives and will try again. But this just isn't right that I have spent over 10 hours on this issue.
I am very bothered by lack of responsiveness and help from Slysoft Support.

The response from the ticket I entered last week was totally useless.
Here are details I have for the ticket. It was entered on Friday night and response on Tuesday morning.
Hi,
You received a license email with an attached
file called "Key.AnyDVD"
Save that file to your hard drive.
Then doubleclick onto Key.AnyDVD
After that you will be asked to store the information in the
registry.
AnyDVD has to be installed!
Choose 'OK', reboot and you're done.
Afterwards save the key file to a safe place (not your PC,
use a CD-R or a memory stick) in order to be able to
reregister AnyDVD if the registry gets corrupted or the
system crashes.
Best regards,
Lucy Hughes

Here is my latest update.
I de-installed the DVD Burner and AnyDVD.
DVD Burner (D Drive) was not reading DVD still after re-boot.
I re-attached my old burner (USB) (G Drive) like I did last week.
I decided to check if my regular CD Burner (E drive) was reading audio. It was.
I put audio CD in DVD burner (D Drive). Files were seen this time. Type of drive in My Computer switched from CD Drive to DVD-RAM drive.
Both USB (G Drive) and DVD burner (D Drive) were able to recognize DVD files after this.
Re-installed Any DVD 6.1.1.4
Checked driver set on DVD burner (D Drive) and it still shows as 6.1.1.3, but everything works.
I am doing my best to provide detailed information. I think somebody from Slysoft should be able to figure this out. I am waiting for drive to stop functioning again, but at least I think I know how to recover.

I have the same problem. I have been using AnyDVD ever since they started and this is by far the most serious bug to date. I have two internal drives and one brand new LG external USB drive all showing as being disabled.
I'm now going back to an older version until they get this one sorted, If not then I will look at switching to DVDIdle Pro.

Well, JGillis, I donīt know if this can help, but I had a similar issue:doh: . I had installed a cracked diciopedia, and everytime I inserted a dvd disc the icon detected the dvd, and Anydvd no longer could detect the dvd (it showed no disc in the drive/and drive disabled). So I had to uninstalled that cracked programme, and now everything came to normal. If you suspect you could have any programme which can conflict with Anydvd , I advise you to uninstall it.
mr899: my dvd reader/burner is also LG 4163B. Except for the firmware (mine is still A105).

I am very frustrated. My LG 4163 still is not working. No files are seen at all. i have de-installed and re-installed both drive and AnyDVD multiple times. I don't think it is drive because PC will boot from that drive if I put a bootable disc in.
My frustration level is very high. I had a ticket with Slysoft, but feel abandoned.
Does anybody have more suggestions?

My girlfriend has that same LG in her system and the same firmware version--and it works with Anydvd 6.1.1.4. Unfortunately, I am unable to reproduce the problem.
(I, of course, got her a PX-760 because I can't stand the 16x jitter results from that LG burner. But the LG burner still works).

Either bad IDE busmaster driver (or needs to look for an updated one from the motherboard's website) or something (musicmatch or whatever) mucking up filters in the registry would be my guess . . .
But a message stating "the drive is disabled" isn't anything to worry about (in fact, it can be normal)--unless a movie disc is inserted.
Some people need to visit http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=2891&postcount=12
and http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=3049&postcount=32 badly.
What's happening in those pics is the firmware in the burner is reporting the wrong information in some cases to Anydvd. Regardless, Anydvd still works properly.

I will admit original title is misleading.
However, this drive is showing
No Disc is present in Drive D:!
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B A106 000630050A53652053
even when there is a movie disc in the drive.
I tend to agree there is a mucked up registry entry, but would have no idea where to start. I appreciate the feedback.

regedit
Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current Control Set\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Check the values in "LowerFilters" and "UpperFilters". List everything there.
I have a feeling though that really the problem is with your IDE/ATA busmaster driver.

I do not get a big window saying disabled for all drives. It also still works for lite -on
AnyDVD works for very old 4X DVD Optorite USB burner and internal Lite-on CD burner.

Well, you can just try removing "ASAPIW2k" from your lowerfilters, but your pinnacle studio software will probably be all messed up (and who knows what else will happen). I would recommend uninstalling pinnacle software until "asapiw2k" disappears from your lowerfilters instead, actually. And then retest.
If you're still having problems at that point, then I would suggest trying different ata/ide busmaster drivers (the default ones provided by Microsoft should work, but if they don't visit your motherboard's website and check for updates). I would even try a new ribbon cable for your burner to see if that helps (try installing it as Master, on its own cable, by itself; check the jumper on the back of the drive).
Other than that, I'm out of suggestions. Your Upperfilters look fine to me.

Well, hopefully, you know where to start looking to narrow down your problem now. Maybe you can try installing one Pinnacle program at a time. Each time you install one program, test Anydvd. Rinse and repeat until you discover which program is giving Anydvd a hard time. This would be useful, perhaps, for Slysoft tech support.
This is not related (I'm not sure I was right in telling you to uninstall Pinnacle software; maybe the problem is fixed just because you rebooted and Anydvd reloaded on bootup): In the event this problem happens to you again, try exiting Anydvd. Then restart Anydvd. See if cycling the program on and off helps you.

The more I read about Pinnacle software, the more I feel it's an issue with Pinnacle VOB Instant Drive (virtual drive, which uses ASAPIW2k.sys) and Pinnacle InstantWrite (cdrdrv.sys), which is packet writing software.
So I would avoid having those programs installed. They seemed to cause problems with other burning software.

I was having a similar problem. Try installing CCleaner (formerly known as Crap Cleaner). It's a free program. Run the cleaner in both windows and application modes. Also run the registry cleaner. I also removed AnyDVD from my startup programs but idk if this is necessary. Reboot your computer and this should solve your problem.

The person whose post you're replying to is over a year old, and the cause for that person's problem is likely completely unrelated. Anydvd 6.4.0.4 may require a reboot even if not prompted.
It's best to simply update to Anydvd 6.4.0.6 beta.

I had the same problem but anydvd was shutting my pc down and making my pc reboot during or after a burn it was also disabling drives . My suggestion to you is to have a folder named anydvd and do not delete any of your old copies keep the new downloads on the desktop, so you know which ones you have not upgraded to. do not upgrade to a new version until you cannot use that version to do a burn, I have noticed that some older versions do not cause issues with your pc then you upgrade and then the shutting down and disabling issues come back

No. That's exceedingly bad advice. Older versions of Anydvd are not supported, and the vast majority of people are not experiencing any issues. If you have problems then posted the required information from http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=321 and http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=1559
Also, as this exceedingly old thread has been resurrected, and no one is experiencing this problem, this thread is now closed.
