Help.
I've recently purchased a PC with a LG Blu Ray drive and it doesn't want to play the following titles:
Transformers
Batman Begins
Spiderman 3
There are no error messages. Cyberlink PowerDVD fires up and then sits there with a dark screen.
All my other discs are playing fine e.g. Corpse Bride, 2001, Casino Royale.
LG have told me to go back to my retailer, my retailer thinks its a codec fault or there are problems playing BD+ content.
My question here is, will purchasing AnyDVD HD product from Slysoft help me in any way. Ordinarily I would use the trial option but the previous user has already used it up. So was hoping someone could help before I make the purchase. Many Thanks!!

You give no information about what version/build of PowerDVD you are using, if you read around you'll see that different films seem to need different versions of PowerDVD to get them to work

i forgot alot about powerdvd 8, because i have switched back to version 7.3. less problems, so i might get the version number wrong but what i do know is the newest version of powerdvd 8 does not work well with alot of Bluray movies so i believe you need to roll back to version 1830

I'm using Power DVD 8 Standard on Vista Ultimate 64bit.
But what build number is it? Transformers works fine in the latest build of 8 ultimate (2021a) But PowerDVD 8 standard doesn't play Blu-ray at all

Open powerdvd, right click , choose 'about' when the next window comes up click on your name in the 'registered to' box, should have the version number in there

Tried you suggestion. This time Windows error msg appears stating 'Power DVD has stopped working'. Wasn't getting that before. I guess this really is a software issue with Cyberlink?

Did you try verifying you have the latest graphics drivers.

No it's not a Problem with PowerDVD as such otherwise the rest of us wouldn't be able to get it to play. You either have a corrupt installation or something on your system causing problems

Guys, many thanks for you help. Its very much appreciated. Display drivers are up to date.
In my frustration, I decided to install Win DVD Plus, and guess what, my problematic titles seem to be playing fine now. I guess my machine and Power DVD didn't want to play ball (despite the changes suggested). Word of warning, I did apply an update to Win DVD which seem to bring back the problem I was having, so I uninstalled\re-installed. Tested working ok. Disbaled automatic updates.
Really weird that the software (Power DVD) likes some discs and not others. I guess this is what happens when industry rushes a product to market in order to win a format war and I guess the likes of Power DVD are left to carry the can.
Once again, thanks for all your efforts.
