This is not good.
What was the version installed when you tried to update?
What OS are you using (also specify 32/64bit)?

Hi :)
Sorry I didn't go into details as it worked out OK with relative ease.
Vista Ultimate 32 bit.
Updating from 6.1.2.5
For what ever reason when install complete, so clicked box. The screen went blue followed by shutdown & auto restart (in safemode).
No AnyDVD fox in taskbar. When looking via explorer in programs > slysoft > AnyDVD The Slysoft logo missing (just what could be best described as a blank page).
Anyway cold booted & AnyDVD still not making a show.
Redownloaded file. Reinstalled. This time time everything went OK.
So maybe I should've put all this in 1st time.
Sorry folks.

Hi :)
Mainly for James.
I have tried to recreate this scenario without success. So wonder as little else has been reported whether this could be dowmload/server related. When I downloaded second time I overwrote the original.

How long until someone asks... Does this meen I have to pay again??
XP PRO - Mine worked first time over-writing 6.1.2.5
Now, if I only had the cash to go buy a Plextor PX-B900A Blu-Ray Burner, Xbox 360 Drive, & 32' HD LCD TV I would be in business. Great job guys and here's to hoping for a good tax return

I suppose so (as the backupbluray021 also does – although not ‘fully’ meaning that the ripped files play with no region lock but if you ‘reconstruct’ the blu ray disk files (using of course the ripped files for the ‘stream’) in the hard disk, in order to get the ‘full package’ (aka menus, audio selection etc) you get the region code error) but I will try it this evening.

Sure, the streams themselves don't have any region coding. It's the movie objects...

@peer
First of all congratulations for the great work!
So Blu Ray ripping will be possible but the Region restriction will remain?
Does this means that with a Region B drive and a Region A movie:
1. I will be able to rip the movie?
2. I will be able to play the ripped files but without the menus, audio selections etc?
3. I will NOT be able to play the movie (with full menus etc of course) directly from the Blu Ray drive?
In case all the above are correct we have the same results as with using backupbluray v.021.
My ‘problem’ is not mainly the menus but the fact that I am not able to change the sound streams (select for example DTS HD instead of the ‘default’ DD 5.1 – of course in case the disk contains this stream) etc.
Peer

as far as ripping is concerned - pretty much (except that AnyDVD HD far easier to handle, and doesn't require a key database :)).

This is a beta - don't expect it to have all features, the release will have.
One goal certainly will be to remove region coding.
As I said, I'm at it right now. It's tricky though...

If you already own anydvd hd this is a free update for the bluray version so yes as long as you have an HD drive and a blu ray drive you can rip either type of disc to the HDD.

Hi,
Now that AnyDVDRipper can rip DVDs, HDs, and Blu-Rays, PLEASE  make it complete and add an option for ripping Audio-CDs.
Please also think of my suggestion of an independent SlySoft player software, which would have many advantages as described in previous threads (no restrictions, better compatibility with SlySoft products).
Many greetings :) ,

Besides the HD-DVD and the Blu Ray it isn't advised to used anydvd just a a ripper alone. In fact on ripping DVD's (standard DVD's) they recommend clonedvd.

Well, bugger me with a fish fork! I'm away for a few days, and what happens? Support for Blu-ray! Nicely done SlySoft, but you're not getting my hard-earned cash quite yet. I tested the beta with a few discs and while region B discs work fine on my non-HDCP display, X-Men 3 (region A) refused to play because of region coding. Yeah, I know you know that regions are still a problem. Solve that, and you get my money :)

Hey, you know what? It would be nice if AnyDVD HD supported BD playback with InterVideo WinDVD. Back in November I purchased the Japanese WinDVD 8 Platinum which installs either a HD DVD or a BD version. Now, that POS software has been intentionally crippled by InterVideo to output 960x540 only when it gets AACS-encrypted content. I was kinda hoping that AnyDVD HD would get around that, but no go. WinDVD won't even try to play a disc in BD drive when AnyDVD HD is running, probably because the AACS directory gets renamed.
I have another version of WinDVD 8, an OEM originally made for I-O Data. It's not crippled to 960x540, and actually gives out rather nice looking full HD when everything's HDCP. That version refuses to play the disc when AnyDVD HD is running, also.
Just something for the lads at SlySoft to ponder, is all... :)

WinDVD8 HD works fine with AnyDVD & HD DVD. Must be a Blu-Ray related problem. Does WinDVD really enforce Rom-Mark protection (AACS required on pressed discs)?
I'll look into this, maybe I can emulate a BD-R disc to make the stupid program happy (but don't hold your breath, it'll take a while, as I have other things to address first).
EDIT:
I forgot to mention - I hate Blu-Ray. :)

I HATE WINDVD 8!!! Ran it on 5 different machines and it totally sucks. Whatever Cyberlink's problems are, at least it is MUCH more stable then Intervideo.
g
p.s. I am not too found of Blu Ray either:D That said, I'm still excited support has been added. A quick (and painful) death to Blu Ray wouldn't bother me in the least though;)

No worries. I know there are more important things to get done. I'm just annoyed with InterVideo and it kinda spills over to this forum. Sorry 'bout that. Actually, the reason I was trying to get WinDVD working was that I hoped it would allow me to grab screenshots from menus. PDVD is working fine with AnyDVD HD for my movie-viewing needs - which is nice :)
I forgot to mention - I hate Blu-Ray. :)
Well, I hate region codes and the forthcoming BD+, not to mention HDCP and AACS in general. Nothing wrong with the image and audio quality BD's able to produce :)

you can remove manually the region lock with a text editor or if you use windvd8 there's a little tool to remove the region lock. ;-)

Just went through the pain to install WinDVD 8 BD (japanese). Works fine with AnyDVD HD & BD discs. Still only 960x540, but this isn't AnyDVD's fault.
So I don't know why it didn't work for you.

Hi.
I have a PS3 and with Linux, I am able to either mount the blu-ray drive in Windows or rip the disk to an ISO and mount the ISO with Daemon tools (or Virtual Clone Drive).
Will AnyDVD HD work even if I don't have a "real" blu-ray drive in my PC ?
Will it still decrypt the content ?
Thanks.

Hi,
Now that AnyDVDRipper can rip DVDs, HDs, and Blu-Rays, PLEASE  make it complete and add an option for ripping Audio-CDs.
Why implement a feature that's already in countless other applications into AnyDVD?
If you ask me, if any other king of ripping were to be added, perhaps ripping of DVD-Audio or SACDs would be more useful.
