movie only backups and .dvd files

If I make a movie only backup it does not have a .dvd file. Is this going to be an issue in the future?

Process: Start AnyDVDHD, insert BD, use tsMuxeR_1.8.8(b) to make BD structure on HD direct from BD disk (movie and 1 audio only), use IMGBurn to make ISO from BD structure, mount ISO with VCD to play.

I use PDVD 8 for playback currently but who knows what the future holds.

.dvd files are only currently created when using the Rip to Image... function of the AnyDVD ripper which only applies to HD/BD ripping.

It will be an issue with some playback software if you don't use the .dvd file. Since you are using tsMuxeR you will need manually create the file. It's only a text file.

Not really needed. VCD will treat images >8.5GB automatically as BDR, so you usually don't need to create .DVD files (unless you are making very small ISOs).

Great, honestly my brain was not fully engaged either because I was thinking the .dvd files contained layer info etc as well as media type. But that would be another program.

I had not caught the default to BDR above 8.5GB previously though so that is good to know.
