Hi,

i am trying to use analog output instead of SPDIF with PowerDVD but i get a very low output volume. It seems to have been a known issue with PDVD 4 & 5 and there used to be a registry hack for this but i can't find any information for version 8. I don't have the problem with my soundcard output testing facility and the levels are equal when using digital or analog output.

Does anybody else have the problem and if so, what can be done to have it changed ?

The soundcard is a prodigy 7.1 Hifi; is there a way to correct the volume using ASIO filters ?

Thanks & Regards,

Albert.

One thing you can try is to go into the configuration and click on the advanced button on the audio tab. One of the sub-tabs (I forget which one) gives you the choice of picking the environment. One of them will provide boosted sound to your audio output, the others provide so-called full-range, and quiet environments. Play with those to see if that fixes your issue (just don't have your volume up too loud or you will be surprised...don't ask how I know).

Sorry for being so vague on the setting names but I don't have my Powerdvd set up on this computer. Hope it helps.

Hi,

many thanks for the answer; the options you mention do exist and help but both compress the dynamics and it is not what i am looking for ...

I hope there is a solution for uncompressed audio because I would want to use it too. W*nDVD always sounds good and loud. I wish PowerDVD would as well.

Hi,

after a complete PC re-installation with the onboard audio chip disabled and a direct setup of the latest PowerDVD version, the problem seems to be fixed and i get normal output levels. I don't exactely know what was wrong.

Thanks for all,

Albert.
