When a blu ray disc is ripped to a hard drive, don't most movies require a 50 gig blank to burn it to because of the massavive amount of data and also even after you have it to disc, it wont play back in a standard blu ray player, will it?

It depends on the size of the original disc, the size of the movie file and the settop player. A lot of films will fit back onto a single layer disc without needing anything done to them, some films you can make a 'movie only' disc and it'll come out under the SL size, and most players will play back BD-r/re discs (but not all)
