Looks like you will need to convert to an mkv container, and there are guides on how to do that - search the forum.
Buy the AnyDvd HD upgrade before December 31st if you want free lifetime updates. Sooner or later you are going to need it if you intend to watch BluRay other than the way Hollywood wants you to ;)

no you do not have to use mkv. m2ts works great. not any issues as of yet.

load movie into tsMuxer
remove garbage not needed
save to external HDD
plug in to WD TV
play in 1080p

Do you mean actually play it or downgrade it and play anything? As I do not have an HD audio setup the best I can do is DTS and DD.

If you wish I could try creating a short clip and keep the TrueHD or DD+ intact and try playing it. Both HDMI direct to TV and also optical to receiver.

Actually was was/am not sure how it reacts to HD audio other than reading it does not work. I am not sure about the downgrading part but I would like to know. If it can downgrade it and play the core from the HD it would make it more appealing to me for sure.

OK here is what I found.....sorry for the delay.

DTS-HD - Does not play HDMI direct to TV, Plays optical out to receiver
(Receiver shows being played as DTS)

PCM - Plays both HDMI to TV and also through optical.
(Receiver shows being played as Dolby Pro Logic 2)

TrueHD - Does not play
(Not sure if this has anything to do with the TrueHD bug in tsMuxer or not)

Also VC-1 encoded video does not play at all. So my TDK looks to only be able to play via PC and standalone. Have not tried muxing to mkv instead of m2ts to see if I can fool it. Luckiliy all of mine so far have either been h.264 or MPEG-2.

Thanks for the info Rusty. Too bad, I hate it when a product is so close but just misses the mark. I would like to have something like this and I could even get around the HD audio issue but if it wont play VC-1....

Again, thanks for testing it and reporting back!

No worries, Again I have a few ideas to see if I can get it to work but it would involve extra steps in the process. It was just nice to rip, mux, play. No fuss about it. Just need to find the time now. 2 toddlers plus another on the way takes just a bit of energy and time out of your day.
