This may not belong here,my anydvdhd is doing just fine.I have Vista Home Premium ser. pac 1, Power dvd 8 2217a,this runs hdmi out from a Vision tek HD4850 with the proper dongle to a Onkyo tx-sr606 with hdmi pass through.I just bought the Onkyo. It worked one time with Death Race Blu-Ray (which anydvdhd handled great and was downsized to 20 something gbs with tsmuxer). Now no sound at all with any dvd or blu-ray ( with Power dvd or MY Movies but it will give sound when configuring with the Realtek Audio Manager).I have Realtek onboard hd audio with the Vista R209 hd audio driver and the R209 ati hdmi driver.I know a lot of you guys here use the hdmi out put to a Onkyo or Dennon from reading your pc specs. What driver do you use with your Ati HDxxxx video card,I use the 8.12 drivers, and what version of the HDMI driver do you all use? .I am having :bang: of a time. Thanks and sorry if in wrong place.I knew it would get to you main guys here.

You MUST use the dvi to HDMI dongle that came with your ATI card.

With Vista, you only need the Realtek drivers and ati Catalyst video drivers. You don't need more than that.

1. With Vista, you need to use http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

Select the one that has "ATI" in its name.

2a. You need to run Catalyst control panel.

b. Then right click on the secondary display (should be your receiver or your television).

c. Select "Enable". Then select "primary"

3. Make sure HDMI Audio Out (or T.V. out) in your receiver = off before booting up your computer. Otherwise your receiver will only work with 2 channel sound

4. Click start/windows button. type "sound". select "sound".

5. You should see

Realtek HDMI Output
ATI HDMI Audio
Working

If you don't have your receiver/T.V. selected/enabled in Catalyst Control
center, then you will have problems here.

6. Right click on Realtek HDMI Output
a) select "Set as Default Device"
b) select "configure speakers"
c) select what's appropriate. Click "next", and go through the steps

7. In your playback software program, select 5.1 or 7.1, depending on the number of speakers you have

8. If you're using XP, you need to use these drivers:

I have did all this that you said,I will try again. It is reading,on the front of the Onkyo it says Multichannel,It is not set to analog multichannel it is on hdmi digital pass through. At one point last night I got a message that the Ati hdmi driver was causing problems and it would be turned off,and it was no longer listed in the play back devices. It is listed now and can be configured to 7.1,I can test every speaker and they work using the windows sound/configure...etc.
Just weird,I am wondering if I should use a older driver,I had R191 when I had the HD2400 and it worked fine, when I bumped up to the HD4850 I also updated my drivers. This could be a Power Dvd 8 ultra problem.I am looking for anyone who has a setup similar to mine and what driver they use.I am going to go back and do your suggestions again 1 by 1 and will post back later. Thanks Webslinger.

I have an Onkyo 605 using a 4670 under Vista 32 and PDVD 8 and use the 2.09 realtek drivers with no problems. You are using the DVI-HDMI converter that came with the 4850 and not the old one. I thought I could get away with out changing it, but when I left the one from my 2600 connected it kept telling me I had no audio connected so I changed it to the one that came with the 4670 and then it all worked
