View Full Version : 23.976Hz video playing at 24.000?

been working on getting reclock set up to work with both my SageTV setup, and PowerDVD (for blu-ray support). I have it switching vid modes properly, wither 59.94 or 23.976 depending on the media, and use pal slowdown if/when i even have a PAL source.

My question comes from what is being displayed/done with 23.976 media (blu-ray, or media file). It is detedting my vid refresh properly at 23.975-23.976. It is detecting the video file as 23.976Hz. It is playing back the file at 24.000 Hz, with the associated resampling to 48048Hz audio. Why is it doing this?

It isn't. Reclock is giving confusing/plain wrong info. Read here:

I figured this was some sort of display bug, and that seems to be the case. I guess I'd be fine if it said 24fps (correct, with rounding), and not 24.000fps (incorrect). Since there haven't been any changes in almost a year it seems, i guess I'll just live with it. It is VERY confusing for newer users though.

EDIT: Perhaps, instead of stating the IDEAL situation (that it would play it at 24.000 fps, with video clock at 24.000Hz), it should instead say:

CINEMA mode: media speed locked to video clock (23.976 fps).

NTSC mode: media speed locked to video clock (59.940/2 = 29.97fps).

PAL mode: media speed locked to video clock (75.000/3 = 25.000fps).

Of course, that all being said, I have since disabled the adaptation anyways, as my set can receive 23.976, 24.000, 25.000, 29.970, and 59.940, so I just use reclock for switching to the proper mode for each media type, and keep it locked on 'Original Speed'. Seems to have stopped a lot of my problems I'd been having.

well cinema is indeed 24fps, so Reclock does give false informations when it says that it's accelerating 23.976@24.000 when you run 47.952Hz....but what's the deal with "NTSC adaptation: media speed changed to 30.000 fps. Audio resampled at 96096 Hz"

genuine NTSC is 29.97002997002997~ fps, end of story....I run 59.940Hz BTW and I still get that msg :policeman:

and it says "audio -96Hz"

I agree with your suggestion. The current message is very misleading: it does need to be that accurate especially since no resampling occurs.
