I know this is a little late but I LOVE my Zune, tried an iPod and hated it. Both my stepsons have Zunes and so does my wife.

Zune = Microsoft = minor flaws (don't spam me, I said minor ;) )
iPod = Apple = DRM and ressource-hogging software.
I don't have either, but I support lots of friends and clients who does. Zune is a great player, but surpassed by Creatives Zen or Samsungs players.
iPod is quite another story. It's userfriendly and the design is great, but that's where it stops. It mainly supports it's own DRM-formats, but the worst thing is the way it tries to keep ownership of your files. If you use Slysofts software, my guess is that this will drive you crazy. The software (iTunes) is taking a lot of your computers power, so you'll feel like you have installed two additional anti-virus programs, and the system will probably have just as many errors as if you did. Don't go there...
Just my advice...

i am a very happy Zune120 owner
the zune has a bigger screen than the ipod and radio Connectivity (FM only) and if you are listening to the radio and find a song you like you can purchase it over wireless (yes it supports 802.11b/g)
i watch a lot of videos on it and the bigger screen is useful for that
and i dont own an ipod to compare it to

Ive had Ipods but for the same reasons as many i went to a zune
The biggest reason being i have lots of older CDs ripped to WMA and itunes conversion isnt all that great IMO
Ive had a 1st gen zune 30 and now a zune 120 and i love it
the software is much better than it was as well

Wow... i feel like an intruder here... lol
I own an iPod Touch 2G 16GB and i love it, definitely better than a zune in my IMO but its really a personal choice.

if you're 100% new to iStuff, it's not very user friendly. especially if you're used to drag n drop onto mp3 players, external hard drives and such. you HAVE to use iTunes, which for me, is difficult. For instance, I have a folder full of bloopers video clips from various movies. Tried to load it onto the wife's vid iPod and no dice. My Creative Zen Vision is awesome though, I love it. you just drag n drop whatever you want on it using my computer or windows explorer or whatever. so simple and easy. I will say that iPod have waaaaay more accessories available for purchase. but, I think the MS Zune will get more and more stuff also.
