hello to all...
i have check the faq base but didnt find what i was looking for.

my clonedvd2 is version 2.8.8.2
i am using a new LG GH22 lightscribe DVD writer which writes all cd/dvd formats and is dual layer 8.5gb.
i am using dynex dual layer dvd+r dvd's

the anydvd and clonedvd2 programs work fine and write the data as they are supposed to when doing a dvd clone job. the problem i am running in to is when it comes time to write the data on the recordable dvd's. i get this message from clonedvd2...

writing to media was not successful
source data too large
this writer is not capable of writing the source data as requested
to write thses dvd files, please use the "copy dvd title", or "clone DVD" option from the start screen

i know the dvd writer is capable of writing the media but am not sure why clonedvd2 is saying that the writer isnt capable of it? i did try the copy and clone options but go the same message? i do have sonic software with DLA and i have not disabled it. i did a test and took a movie that had a music video on it and i disabled everything but the video and ran the clonedvd2 software. it wrote that to the dvd+r fine, although it would not run in my normal dvd player, it did play on my pc through my powerdvd player.

i have checked my device manager and made sure that the dvd player is present and that DMA is set as it should be. everything is fine there, so i am at a loss to why this occurs? i have also tested the drive with all cd/dvd formats and it is working as it should. this may be as simple as property settings in the dvd writer's properties, or DLA, but i dont know what?

if anyone has experienced this... i would appreciate hearing what your solution to it was.

thanks in advance :D

Junk

Bad quality blank media can vary in results from disc to disc, even within the same spindle. With good blank media you can play "find the bad blank" game. With inferior quality blank media you get to play "find the blank that works" game. And even when inferior blank media does work, you can play the "will my backups still play after 6 months (or even after two years)" game.

Use good quality blank media (Taiyo Yuden Premium, Verbatim Datalife Plus, Maxell Plus, Maxell Broadcast Quality). Avoid Ritek, Memorex, Regular Maxell blank media that you can find in most stores that are not made in Japan, Fuji, TDK from Costco, and Princo. Also, on average, it's wise to avoid blank media that's made in China or Hong Kong.

If you're using double layer blank media, use Verbatim +R DL (preferably made in Singapore) or MAM-A 8x +R DL.

Use junk? Expect problems

[I]writing to media was not successful
source data too large

If you're using double layer blank media select "dvd +/-R DL" near the quality bar.

If you're using regular single layer blank media, select "dvd-5" near the quality bar.

double = +R DL

dual = - RL DL (useless disc format because the layer break position is fixed)

i do have sonic software with DLA

Drive Letter Access is packet writing junk, which may cause conflicts with Anydvd and other programs. If you need to drag and drop files to burn (as you would to a floppy disc), then use dvd-ram instead, which is more stable. That Drive Letter Access nonsense needs to be removed.

1. Use Anydvd 6.5.3.4 beta: click http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/SetupAnyDVD6534.exe

You may need to reboot after installing if prompted to do so.

2. Click the red fox icon on your toolbar. Click "default". Click "ok".

3. Use Clonedvd 2.9.2.2: http://static.slysoft.com/SetupCloneDVD2922.exe

4. Follow the steps from this link in order: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=476 (follow them step by step)

If you're using +R DL blank discs, I recommend using Clonecd: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=327

5. If you still have problems, then . . .

A)
a) Ensure Anydvd is running.
b) Put the problematic original movie dvd in your burner. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
c) Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
d) Select "Create Logfile"
e) Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
f) A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
g) Windows Explorer will open, and you will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar; see step f)
h) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like http://forum.slysoft.com/images.slysoft/editor/attach.gif (in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
i) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
j) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
k) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
l) click "upload"
m) Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

B) State the full a)error message(s) you encountered (click "details"), b)tell us what program(s) you were using when you received the error message(s), and c) describe in detail what you were doing when you received the error message(s). What problem are you having exactly?

C) Click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=5091 to see if your question has already been answered

D) Provide the Clonedvd log file after Clonedvd has finished--or after you receive an error message.

http://forum.slysoft.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2933&stc=1&d=1213989628

i)In the white area under the tab labelled "Log", right click and select "save as".
ii)Select where you want to save the log, and then save it.
iii) The log will be a .txt file. Zip it up using Winzip or another program. If the text file is small enough, you should be able to upload it anyway. Otherwise, use Winzip.
iv) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like http://forum.slysoft.com/images.slysoft/editor/attach.gif (in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
v) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
vi) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
vii) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file (or .txt file) that you created.
viii) click "upload"
ix) Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

E. What blank media are you using? Specify
brand name
type (-R, +R, -RW, +RW, RAM, DL, ...),
media code (I really want this),
capacity/size,
batch codes/serial codes (often found printed on the inner plastic hub of the blank disc), and
country (factory information would be great as well, if possible) where the media was made (look on the physical packaging; do not rely on programs to accurately give you this information).
If you don't know how to obtain media codes, you may find the following programs useful:

G. At what speed are you burning your blank media?

thank you webslinger! it was outdated slysoft software. the newer versions worked fine without any conflicts from the sonic DLA or the junky dynex disks. i have to restart my pc after using the software because it changes my new drives functionality to autoplay dvd movies, but i can live with that.
thanks again!

Keep in mind that while you may have resolved your problem now the DLA and media issue may cause problems in the future and we may ask you to remove the DLA if you do have issues again. Keeping software like that installed is a time bomb and sooner or later it will explode and it will cause a problem.
