I have too many options to back up my DVD's and this is in my toolbox as well and it does great I think too. Just as good on quality as the other shrinkers out there.:D

I purchased them ALL.
I have DVD whatever copy since day 1, when they supplied a total solution and then lost in court and were forced to leave the "decoding" bit out.
At the time they offered only split DVD solution (no compression).
They they incorporated compression, after they got the DVDShrink guy to work for them.
However! No matter how good their product is, it still requires activation via PC-oriented key.
Elaborate Bytes and Slysoft do not resort to such despicable practices. Therefore, besides providing very sactifarorily working products, with constant revisions for free, which is a lot more than what I can say for other software houses, Slysoft and Elaborate Bytes are Companies that deserve a whole lot of respect.
Their products (with the wonderful AnyDVD on top of them all) are very reliable and in constant motion to receive free upgrades and improvements.
I urge everyone to support these companies, by buying, using and publicizing these products whenever we have a chance.
They do not require the silly hardware activation. This, alone, is a sign of respect to their customers that I value very much.
I regularly upgrade/change my hardware (especialy hard disks!) every 6-9 months. But I still have only 2 PC. Currently, I use AnyDVD on both (2 licences) and one of them has the copy products, CloneDVD2, CloneDVD and CloneDVD Mobile (1 license each).
The troubles I go with Microsoft and other vendors to convince them that I am not just trying a free ride every time I change Motherboard, Processor and hard disks are awesome - I was once for almost 2 months with my PC incomplete because of these hurdles!...
Once more I say, Companies that do simple serial number activations PLUS free upgrades are not those many and they deserve our support and respect.
I consider AnyDVD + CloneDVD2 a winning pair and I occasionally use DVD2One (purchased) for a better compression job (at the cost a much longer time, so I use it only when strictly necessary).
By the way, DVD2One has a licensing policy that is quite interesting: If you're the sole owner/user of more than one PC, you can use it on all of them with one license only. You can only use the license on one computer if these computers have other users besides you. Slysoft beats this, on the other side, by offering a much longer product life and frequent free upgrades.
Anyway, the message is to avoid hardware-based activations, because the moment you upgrade or change the hardware yu're in big trouble (and provided the company that sold you the software is still there...).
Long live Slysoft!
(A satisfied Customer  )

I do not believe this is the same company or software. I know its a sound alike but DVDNextCopy and DVDX Copy are two completely differnt entitities ( I think ).

This is correct as I offer support on their forum for this product. They simply offered to help those with x copy problems just to gain a what would be better in the future. Then of course the support was dumped to offer a better product. I could go into more detail but I know you see where I'm going with this. Version 1 in most of the peoples opinion was a flop and it was hard to play keep up but now there's updates to fix whatever issue. I myself as stated many times before must have it all. Shrink and saw 3 is a problem unless you use another decrypter so stating that it isn't shrink is a lie as anydvd and shrink fails. Might not now with the new update of anydvd of course.
Anyways I hope this clarifies the fact that DNC (DVD neXt COPY) although it sounds alike it truely isn't. Every app out there is powerful in it's own way and none of them are the same. Trials and research is what you want to go by and of course look at the tesimonials as DNC is up there with 1 click. I hope that when BD and or HD DVD go full in effect that there is no freeware to do backups then those that are used to I use it because it's free will truely be needed a back up program.
Just my opinion on this I also think slysofts combo is a great product as this is one of the many in my tool box to use. My problem is which program to use each time. Sometimes when I'm bored I do the movie in all of them just to compare.

I also use dvdnextcopy with anydvd and my backups look even better than the originals. I use the slowest setting for the most fluid picture then play them on my LG dvd player through a DVDO HD+ video scaler set at 1080p on my 61"" Samsung DLP and the picture is truly amazing. I have used most software titles out there and these 2 together give me the best results.

Didn't Shrink do its own basic decryption back in the day? Seems it did if I remember correctly.

No their in no relation to that. They just supported the older product IE activating ect.... Then they asked users what would make it better then stopped supporting DXC and created their own product. Below is information on the company. I hope I don't get banned on this too.:policeman:

neXtCopy does not have the logo. neXtCopy took over where XCopy left off. Some improvements, some the the inherent problems.

What problems are there? I use allot of different burning apps and have no issues. Antivrus is no longer an issue. Download managers is and of course patches will be nothing but trouble. Not update patches or upgrade but illegal patches. This software is versatile and nothing needs tampering.

BTW, I own DVD NextCopy and just now I received an e-mail to d/L their Version 2 for free (as I was doing with 321's product when it existed).
Anyone tried Version 2 already?...
(and of course I hate machine-tied activation, GRRRR!... Trouble on every change of hard disk, or processor, or motherboard - which I do every 6-9 months :( )

Version 2 is a very vast improvement compared to version 1. I like version 2 now due to I can use anydvd if I wish and I do wish:D instead of the machinist. We promote anydvd to those that are serious on the support forum there, but not all are interested which is ok. I have been working with them to devise a setup like slysoft does. pitching ideals isn't that easy. There's a 70% rating on the software on cdfreaks and they are doing a review as well. If you do have version 1 I advise to uninstall it before you update. Plus reboot as allot of people get errors going from 1 to 2.

Please heed Charlies advice and uninstal version 1, then search puter for any instances of neXtCOPY and remove. Then reboot and instal the latest version. on any subsequent update you can just install over the version you have. :)

joe, you are correct! Anyone who purchased the product before December 1 2006 will have to go to the DVDneXtCOPY website and in the support section you can request a new serial # for the version 2 releases.
This is not uncommon in this industry. Many developers when releasing dramatic changes to their software do this. It is also helping to eliminate the number of people using cracked versions...
The process is easy and very fast.
Please remember folks that when upgrading from version 1 to any of the version 2 releases, you must fully uninstall version 1 and all remenents of it before installing and activating version 2.
Any subsequent version 2 releases can be installed over each other! :)

Does this program has product activation (Bound to specific hardware)?

Has activation yes, due to specific hardware no. I have been trying to get them to put the responsibility solely on the customer like you guys do on slysoft products.

1. Can the software retain menus over split discs?
2. Does the software do bitsetting on +R media?
3. Will it retain the original layer break position when using +R DL media?

It doesn't split discs.
2. Does the software do bitsetting on +R media?
Nope might in the future though.
3. Will it retain the original layer break position when using +R DL media?
This software is no difference than clonedvd2 basically, but there is additions being made to stand out. There is video/audio previews when selecting titles.

I did go deep into what this is and was asked to edit. I'll try it again though.
DVD neXt COPY is really not much different than clonedvd2 there is some minor differences than other software out there as any backup solution has those. This software along with anydvd (preferred) or the machinist ( like anydvd without the extra kick that anydvd has) is free to use with DNC, kinda like the dvd43 for 1 click. You can take out the previews, warnings, ect... just like in clonedvd2. You can expand this menu on DNC to see more titlesets to and in each titleset there is a preview panel for viewing what that title holds and the audio plays as well almost like watching it like you would with the dvd in the dvd player. They did put a dynamic window on the program with flash tutorial on FAQ's for the software and also in this dynamic window it informs you that a new version is out and if you click it this will take you to the download page, just like anydvd. Other stuff is in the making and ideal are generating for the next major release (3.0). I'm not much of a marketer but I do get slysoft allot of sales for anydvd alone as they try it with DNC and like it better than the free plugin (which I tell them they will). James what else was you wanting to know?
I don't affiliate so all sales go to slysoft on the purchases too.

If you were asked to edit by an admin, a dev, or another mod, please respect his or her wishes. Otherwise, I don't have a problem with what you've written, especially since you appear to be generating sales of Anydvd--and are not directly linking to the site you're talking about.
