Hi,

I just purchased Aladdin and Meet the Parents. Both are having the same problem.

I get the following message:
---------------------------
AnyDVD 6.6.0.9
---------------------------
WARNING!

Failed to read DVD!

This could have several reasons:

1. - DVD Media is dirty, you can try to clean it.

2. - DVD Media is damaged, you have to replace it.

3. - Your drive is a region locked RPC2 drive, which does not allow reading of scrambled sectors from a different region and you try to read a DVD from a different region.
Known drives having this problem are RICOH/PHILIPS DVD Writers and Matshita/Panasonic DVD readers and writers.
You can try to find a RPC1 patched firmware at http://www.rpc1.com

4. - Your drive is an RPC2 drive that has not yet been assigned a Region. Try to assign one, or try to find a RPC1 patched firmware at http://www.rpc1.com
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Any ideas?

I have attached the AnyDVD log.

Thanks in advance.
Jason

The version of AnyDVD you are using ( 6.6.0.9 ) is up to date. If you are a registered user (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=31136), I strongly recommend that you update to the latest beta (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=37412) version 6.6.1.3

OPTIARC DVD RW AD-7173A 1-03 JUN21,2007
Please ensure you are using the latest firmware for your optical drive. See here (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=18731).

Rip speeds on DVD and Blu-Ray might be improved by MediaCodeSpeedEdit (http://ala42.cdfreaks.com/MCSE/). Please see RIPLOCK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riplock).

If installed (often from Duplex Secure, Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120% ), uninstall SPTD, which is the culprit for slow rips.

I was having similar problems all of a sudden. Setting the Region Code to 1 solved it. I never had to do this before. Weird all of a sudden I started seeing the same error.

Hi,

Thanks for the help!

I had checked before posting and the drive is indeed set to Region 1.

I will try the suggestions from Mike and let you know the results.
