Burns Slow at 16x

I have a Philips DVD8801 burner, 16x Burner.
When I burn a DVD at 8x (TDK 8x DVD+R), it really only burns at 4x.
But when I burn at 16x (TDK 16x DVD+R), it burns at 2x..

The Drives are set to DMA Enabled.

Dell XPS 600
Intel 3.46ghz Extreme Edition
2gb Ram
2-320gb drives (Raid 0)
Dual Nvidia 7900 GTX 512mb SLI Mode

Anyone have an idea as to why this is happening ??

First I would suggest trying some verbatim media.

I made a mistake on the 8x media.
They are TDK's not Memorex...

I will pickup some verbatim media today and see what happens..
