Game Jackal Pro is the ultimate "must have" killer app for the PC gamer! If you, like most gamers, find it annoying looking for and inserting the CD-ROM for your favorite game each time you play it, then Game Jackal Pro is for you.

Keeping your gaming investment safe: One major concern gamers have is the CD's life span. The CD-ROM for a popular game may be inserted and removed many hundreds of times, this of course leads to the inevitable "Unable to read" error and ultimately a trip to the trash.

Unleash your games and go gaming "cd free" in seconds: Using Game Jackal Pro eliminates the need to insert the CD-ROM before playing your favorite title, therefore allowing you to fire up your favorite game in seconds.

Easy to use: Game Jackal Provides the user with a powerful and easy to use interface to go gaming "cd free". It does this without modifying any of your game's files or installing any virtual drives on your system. Simply select the game you want to play from the Game Jackal Pro interface, or create a desktop shortcut for even faster access.

Image mode: Image mode adds support for games that need to stream data directly from the CD or DVD during game play.

Keep young eyes from playing games that may not right for them: Game Jackal Pro comes complete with a feature called Guardian Control, this feature allows restrictions to be placed on game profiles.

Young gamers can make short work of a game CD: Being able to pack away the game CD has proven to be extremely popular with parents of young gamers, where a game can be destroyed in weeks!

There's no other product like it: The simple fact is that Game Jackal Pro stands alone. There's no other product on the market that delivers the flexibility and functionality that Game Jackal Provides.

Guardian Control
Ok... so Game Jackal Provides you with a way to protect game CD's from the little hands of a young gamer, but how do we then stop these same young gamers from playing games that may not be appropriate?
Game Jackal Pro contains a very unique and powerful feature called Guardian Control, this allows a game profile to be password protected thereby ensuring that only specific users (i.e. those knowing the password) can play the game. And because your CD-ROM's are now put away for safe keeping, there's no fear of accidentally leaving a disc in the drive for a young gamer to find.
So now that we have limited what a young gamer can play, wouldn't it be great if we could limit when games could be played? Well once again Game Jackal Pro provides a way... Guardian Control also allows rules to be created that detail when and how long games can be played. These rules can be as simple as defining a time (i.e. between 6:30PM and 8:30PM) during the week days in which games can be played to complex rules that involve many periods in which a young person can go gaming.
Features Pro Version

* Create profiles right from the desktop with the new "One-click" profile creation option. Simply right-click any game icon on you desktop (or anywhere else for that matter) and select "Convert to Game Jackal Profile", a much simplified creation wizard guides you through a 2 step process.
* Unused profiles can now be moved to an archive section allowing you to keep only your current favorites in the "My Game Profile" section.
* A new "plug-in" interface is now available, this allows third-party developers to create plug-ins for Game Jackal Pro.
* Right-click popup menu for profiles, this provides a faster and easier way to manage profiles.
* Improved reliability, support and performance for many games and hardware configurations.
* Support for multi processor hardware, including the ability to specific processor(s) on for each profile.
* Image mode, for games that need to stream data from the CD or DVD during game play.
* An easy to use interface, providing the user with a single tool for "cd free" gaming.
* The creation of a Game Jackal Profile is performed while you are playing your favorite game!
* Using the auto update feature, your version of Game Jackal Pro will always be the latest version available.
* Guardian Control, this feature allows for the password protection of game profiles in addition to specifying when and how long a game can be played.
* No longer do you need to find and insert the game's CD-ROM.
* Preserve the original game's CD-ROM: one of the problems with having a favorite game is that the CD-ROM gets damaged over time.
* Game load times are dramatically shortened

System Requirements

* IBM-compatible PC with a minimum 500 MHz Pentium-class microprocessor and 64 MB RAM
* Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP/XP64/VISTA/VISTA64
* 2 MB hard-disk space

I imagine you can use this just like anydvd or clonedvd2 or clonecd on more than one PC and lifetime updates as well?

I'd assume it uses the same licensing as all other SlySoft products (including the free lifetime updates), but I'm not %100 sure.

The page says it works in vista 64-bit, but I just downloaded it and when I try to install it it says

"The program can only be installed on versions of Windows designed for the following processor architectures:

x86"

I have a normal Vista 64-bit with Intel Quad-Core Q6600.

So when are they posting a version that works with 64-bit Vista as advertized?

Well, I guess I just waite till 64-bit support comes. Hope it does not require some kind of paid upgrade. Also, above mentioned that you can use your clonedvd, etc on more than one computer if you have for example a laptop and a desktop? Is that true because I have been buying multiple copies for my desktop and 2 laptops.

You think you can found out about this for me or actually all of us?

nspanahi

Yes, please do find out. I don't mind buying multiple licenses if needed, but my three computers are only used by me and only one at a time.. so it would be nice to know if I can use one license for the three systems.

No, you won't need to insert additional coins. :)

This is true as long as you don't use the programs at the same time. Although I am not 100% sure, I assume the same is true for GJ.

My old number had multiple licenses attached to it. How do I get upgrades for those? Re-order again with the same original order number?

Slysoft is sending out emails to former Game Jackal owners. In that email, an order number is specified. Please use the order number provided by the automated Slysoft email. Check your spam folders. The email will be from
blackhole(at)slysoft.com

You might get multiple emails (for multiple licenses). I'm not sure.

Well crap get the same with XP64 and 2k3x64 :(

That is the number I used for the upgrade. Unfortunately you cannot specify a quantity. Nor does it mention what you were previously licensed for, just that you had a previous purchase. I guess I'll take the wait and see approach for now. I did send them an email query as well.

Yeah, I actually received two emails containing two different order numbers. You may have to wait for further emails or a response from Slysoft.

Nor does it mention what you were previously licensed for

I'm not sure what's happening, if anything, for former Enterprise customers. However, for everyone else the upgrade price is $10. So unless you're a former Enterprise user (and I'm not sure that makes a difference), what you were previously licensed for shouldn't matter.

well, when I tried to pay for an upgrade, using the order number and email addresswhich slysoft sent me ( which matched my original purchase records ) I got the error message: licence already upgraded

I don't understand how anyone else could have used my license number already, and my email address ???. I've not shared this info with anyone.

I've sent an email query, but having also seen the post about NWN2 not working after upgrade, I'm going to wait for that to be resolved before payign for an "improved" version of GJ, as that's the game I mostly use GJ for.

IF it ain't broke, don't fix it.!

The only game I have that my old GJ version failed on is tomb raider anniversay, but I got that working with a manual hide-jack workaround, withhelp from the forum, & then just bypassed the whole TRA issue with a no-cd fixed exe which I found very easily!

I believe that's just my little issue. It doesn't appear to be affecting anyone else. I'm slowly narrowing the problem down.

GUTTED! I was so excited to get the email saying GameJackal had been released, I downloaded it and tried to install it, BANG! Does not work on Vista X64 :( I'm heart broken. I was getting my wallet out to!!!

Please can some nice sole at Slysoft confirm if there will or will not be a Vista X64 Version and if there is approx when it will be released? (Days, Weeks, Months, Never). I and a load of others are really gona want to know. :(

I'm pleased for all those x86 users, but x64 is the way of the future. :)

Do you know if they have any plans to bring out an Enterprise version?

The Pro version wouldn't be any use to us, as we're a Cybercafe.

I am wondering if Slysoft would be kind enough to put dates on the release versions of Game Jackal like it does with all its other products?

So basically, please put dates into this file: http://www.slysoft.com/download/changes_gamejackal.txt

Thanks a lot, it helps to track the time frame of releases :D

A link to an online/downloadable manual would be nice as well.

I would like to read what it is going to do to my current profiles and install before I apply my upgrade. From reading some of the threads here, it appears that a complete uninstall and cleaning would be the better way to upgrade, then install and then recreate my profiles.

I think I will wait a few days/weeks and let the dust settle/ iron out bugs/ new fixes etc until I do anyway. Everything I play works fine. So new real reason to apply the upgrade yet.

Uhhh, I don't know about that as none of my desktop profile shortcuts work now--and I can't create any shortcuts either. The profiles will work when activated directly from within GameJackal.

* Using the auto update feature, your version of Game Jackal Pro will always be the latest version available.

Does that mean that the update feature is embedded within the software so we will not need to download new versions ourselves? If so, what are the notification options regarding this feature?

Thanks

I've had this issue before as well. (Maplom's version). I found that the best way to get desktop shortcuts to work is to create the profile with GJ and then from within GJ right click on the game's icon and send it to the desktop. I no longer had issues after I did that.

Give it a go, maybe it'll help out.

Does anyone know if our old profiles will work with this new version? I've bought the upgrade already but haven't installed it yet...

PS. I'm really happy this is finally out!

That doesn't work. See here (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=4795)

I can't create profile shortcuts on either this computer nor on my laptop.

My profiles work (when I start them from within Game Jackal). My newly created profile shortcuts on my desktop don't work.
And if I attempt to create a desktop icon from within Game Jackal (right click profile and then select "create desktop shortcut", I get "List index out of bounds (-1)".

I had the same problem... A quick look at the shortcut found that it was looking for an executable that didn't exist. I changed the executable to GameJackal_cl.exe and all of my desktop shortcuts are working...

Yeah, Loonie posted about that last night, and I made a sticky here (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=4874)
