I have used both CloneDVD as well as just play AnyDVD "rip to image" v 6.0.8.10 and I am getting errors on copying of the DVD. I am assuming this is either a defective disk or a new copy protection scheme. This is a brand new released DVD.
I am not trying to write this to a new DVD but create an ISO image to disk.
Attached is the AnyDVD log file and bitmap of the error dialog

first of all don't use anydvd's rip to iso on DVD that's not what it's for, remember the warning box ? It's only for blu-rays
secondly, Summary for drive D: (AnyDVD 6.8.0.10)
HL-DT-ST BDDVDRW GGC-H20L 1.03 430918081192JE1358
Drive (Hardware) Region: 0 (not set!)
set your dvd's drive hardware region, without it anydvd cannot properly decrypt a dvd and then try again

Thanks for the quick reply.
Actually I find that the logging on AnyDVD is not 100% accurate in this respect and does not always accurately read the drive region. The drive region is already set see attached image.
It also fails using CloneDVD as well so I figured giving you a log file from AnyDVD was the first step.

No, AnyDVD is always 100% correct. Really.

Then how do you explain the fact it shows set on the drive in the bitmap attached? Confused as to what you would like to me to do to set it since it is already set to Region one.

You must exit AnyDVD first.
1) Exit AnyDVD
2) Set the drive region.
3) Launch AnyDVD.

The log content
Media is not CSS protected.
Media is locked to region(s): 1 2 3 4 5 6!
AI scan forced, heuristic scan detected no protection!
tells me this is LEAST likely from a studio and may be a bootlegged copy even if you got it through Amazon. There are private dealers selling on Amazon too.
The error JPG indicates a permanent/fatal READ error and I doubt this one will copy. No, this is not some exotic protection and yes, it may play just fine.

I don't think it is the actual region code as other DVD's are fine including some more copy protected versions.
So I will try to gain access to another copy of this DVD perhaps I should return to Amazon and have them ship me a new one :)
Thanks - I assumed it was an error on DVD authoring that was causing the reading problem.

Frank, my copy of this, from a good source came from a well known outlet - and had the same status. If they are Asian boots - then they are coming that way as the main distribution. I was also suspicious.
All that said... AnyDVD could not rip the whole disk - Reauthoring in Shrink got the movie only.
I suspected a read error as in factory defect.

OK, you can try for a swap and it is a little strange to see a DVD with those properties. And as I said previously:
