I uninstalled Nero 7 Essentials yesterday, now my CD/DVD RW drive no longer responds. I got a message stating that some Nero files were missing, so I tried "repairing" it with the Nero disc. It did not work, so I uninstalled Nero with the intention of immediately reinstalling it. My (D:) drive no longer responds when I put a disc in the drive.
When I click on the AnyDVD Fox icon on the bottom right of my screen, the "Status" section states that "AnyDVD is disabled for Drive D:!"
What can I do to fix this issue?
Thanks

I feel as though I'm being ignored for not following etiquette, but I cannot perform steps 6A through 6F b/c my DVD RW drive does not recognize ANYTHING. Nothing happens at all when I insert a disc.
If there is some other form of etiquette that I'm leaving out, please forgive my ignorance.

did you try removing the drive from hardware management and letting windows re-find it?

I'm at that point now. I just updated the latest firmware for my burner & it did not work. I will try your suggestion now.
Thank you for your reply!

Uninstalled my DVD RW burner & reinstalled it & it still does not recognize anything when I put a disc in. It's like it's dead...

Try to uninstall it again, then reboot, and see if windows will find the drive. :agree:

You probably need to delete some registry settings then reboot so windows can 'fix' the problem
try this from Microsoft

I've tried the "Fix it" function from Microsoft. I've done it twice and it did nothing.
Also, I just uninstalled my DVD RW burner just now, restarted, and noticed that it is installed again. However, it is still not functioning at all.
Each time I've uninstalled the burner and restarted my computer, I've gotten a pop-up message from AnyDVD stating:
"Warning: No DVD drive detected!"
All of this happened after I uninstalled Nero. Did that cause Nero to uninstall or "disconnect" something. Because, I'm unable to install anything at this point b/c the drive does absolutely nothing when I put a disc of any kind in…and it was working perfectly before I uninstalled Nero.

I've only seen this happen on older versions of Nero, around version 4 or 5 on XP and that was a long time ago. You'd need to find out what driver it's partially left in and remove the drivers from the registry, or re-install Nero, or wipe your system and start again from scratch.
I do remember there being an issue under XP with cdralw2k.sys being left in the registry after uninstalling recording software but it's been so long since I've had to deal with it I can't remember exactly what you had to remove

I would try the CleanTool:

I have been having the same problem since upgrading to 6.8.5.0
It tells me:
AnyDVD is disabled for Drive D:!
HL-DT-ST BD-REBH20N A102 ( 09091908558BE53044
However, I can manually browse to and view the DVD contents. It just doesn't seem to be integrating with MyMovies, which I've been running for a couple years now, and have not updated or changed in a while (it's the most recent version out, but it's been so for quite some time.)
Running Windows 7 Pro SP1.
