I am having exactly the same issue. I own LG's original supermulti drive...
GGW-H10N. I have the last known firmware update on it.
I'm trying to rip the Matrix Ultimate Collection BD (US version) set. When I put the first disc of the set (original Matrix movie) into my ROM, AnyDVD gives the errors below. I can only rip to HDD up until 53%. Interestingly, with the "Revolutions" and "Reloaded" HD-DVD's, I can play them back in TMT5; I presume I can play them all the way through.
Why would there be such a specific problem where these LG drives all get stuck at 51-53%? The the first Matrix disc was the first disc I ran into that couldn't be read.
I would really like to get the ISO versions of all three Matrix movies. Can someone who still has these discs (US version); and, can read them PM me? I have blank 50GB BD-R discs.

As a senior member I would expect you to know and understand the rules. Especially about thread jacking 4 year old threads with the text 'I am having exactly the same issue'...

Probably because your drive is old and is obviously having an issue reading the second layer on the discs. And no, you can't make the presumption that because they start to play in TMT 5 that you can play them fully. Both Blu-ray and HD DVD have no structural copy protection so you can copy the discs to ISO whether you use AnyDVD or not. If you try exiting AnyDVD and use Imgburn to make a protected ISO does that work or do you still get read errors? If you do then you either need to get hold of another drive or another set of discs (My moneys on the drive failing)

Reminds me of this: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=40651
I would certainly try thoroughly cleaning the disc and copying in ImgBurn with ample re-tries before then returning the disc and only after that thinking about drive replacement. FWIW, I had the Avatar problem (and incidentally have the same original LG multi-drive), but since "brute forcing" Avatar I have never seen the problem again.

Prior to my posting, it was thought that this issue was only an ambiguous disc/drive/drive cabling issue. I also thought the person who started this thread (and others participating) would like some closure; instead of going on thinking replacing the discs would have resolved the issue. All these discs stop exactly at 53%; which means that it's related to the LG drive's ability to read beyond a certain point on these discs. It appears that this couldn't be confirmed definitely before. I don't understand what you mean by "jacking 4 year old threads". Did I "jack" other 4 year old threads too? :) The "I am having exactly the same issue" rule applies to people who don't bother adding any new information that wasn't known before. I confirmed what couldn't be confirmed before.

So you and Mike have us at a disadvantage! I don't know which 4 year old thread was originally bumped.
It does look, like with the Avatar Netflix disc, that the problem is a poorly manufactured disc, which some drives are more sensitive to than others and either replacing the disc or "brute forcing" it should solve it. Or are we missing something?

How can I "brute force" it? Only one out of the 3 discs finished ripping to completion. I would love to know how to get around that. I ordered a replacement disc to see if I have better luck. I am curious if there is a possibility I would have the same problem even if I replace the disc multiple times.
I am currently using a relatively recent firmware from 2009 (firmware 1.09).

Yep, it is possible there is a whole batch of suspect discs, as seemed to be the case with Avatar. Hopefully your next one is from different stock.
In the meantime, of course it is possible the disc is simply unreadable. But if you want to try brute force, try creating the iso with Imgburn and first go to the Read tab in Tools/Settings and set a higher number of software and hardware retries. Give the disc a really good clean first. It could take a while, but you might get lucky.
