Region 2 dvds in North America

Can anyone tell me if I'll be able to use ANYDVD to "convert" a region 2 dvd from U.K to a region 1 dvd that I can play in Canada ? I know that ANYDVD ignores the region settings usually but I haven't tried anything with a region 2 dvd and would like advice. Thanks

anydvd will remove the region code when you back up the disc, but there could still be the video standards to get aroung, (R2 UK) uses PAL format and the US uses NTSC which dvdsanta can convert but i'm not sure about the quality
