I have a HP DVD1040 and a Toshiba Satellite 2455-S305. The burner seems to read very slow but the burn is about 9min. Any help appriciated.

It could be a multitude of issue, I would start with your UDMA Mode for your burner. I believe it should be UDMA2, if it has slipped into PIO Mode you will get very slow encoding times, ( in the hours).:agree:
