If it's CMC MAGM01, then avoid it.
If you don't know how to obtain media codes, you may find the following programs useful:

My CMC Mag M01 media (TDK inkjet printable from Costco) burn and play perfectly, consistently. And they have for years. Burning with Benq 1650/1655 and Lite-On 16A7S Sata burners.

TDK being sold in Costco currently is B-grade stuff and generally mediocre to terrible recently.
But with specific regard to HP's (in addition to what I already do know) CMC MAGM01, you can also visit http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia/hp-dvd-r-cmc-mag-m01-16/3756#comments
When you start to compare burn quality of these over a wide variety of burners, there's simply no comparison to
either Verbatim nor Taiyo Yuden premium.
Also with respect to what's happening with TDK recently, visit

Turns out that "HP DVD+R 16x" are Ritek-R03.
That seems weird. R03 is usually 8x from what I remember.

Anyway, you'd still be better off with either Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden Premiums.
