Is there a way to rip the audio only from a dvd to the hard drive so I can make a wav. file for a cd? I have the newest version of anydvd.

You can't with Anydvd by itself.

Do you have Nero Ultra v6 or v7? If so, you can easily copy any audio, even copy protected. :-) Will save as mp3.
1) Open Nero's Wave editor
2) Open whatever DVD or music player you're using.
3) Click on the red record button at bottom of wave editor. Box pops up. click red record button.
4) Play DVD or CD. The audio is recorded internally. Watch volume bars on wave editor. Make sure it stays in green or very low yellow.
When you've recorded the section or song you want, you can edit out anything unwanted and then save to HDD.
With that file you can burn easily to CD.
