Default Magicjack

I have this same issue. The above solution does not work. Let me give further info.
AnyDVD v.6.5.4.9
magicjack is drive U: (looks like a CD-ROM)
RW-DVD Drive is drive w:

If I start Anydvd without the magicjack inserted. there is no option to disable drive U:'
I then insert magicjack leading to Anydvd status for drive U: perpetually saying, " AnyDVD is scanning the disc...Please wait YMAX MAGICJACK 2.00 EB YT I G E R"
I now have the option to uncheck u: drive in drive selection. I uncheck it.
Anydvd scanning continues.
I now have two paths to take:

1) I disconnect magicjack
a) Drive selection U: goes away.
b) re-inserting magicjack casues drive selection u: to return checked.
c) Endless scanning continues. No solution
Or

2) I exit anydvd mid-scan
a) Anydvd apprently crashes, sometimes creating dump or just living in taskmanager processes as anydvdtray.exe. No other indicator it's running.
b) Only way to restart anydvd is to kill process in task manager
c) When restarting anydvd it still scans magicjack endlessly

It seems to me that anydvd is not saving the disabled drive for the magicjack because it never finishes scan. Disabling the rw-dvd drive w: works as expected.

This is frustrating as I either have to keep magicjack disconnected (futile) or diabable anydvd from auto-starting. When I need it, I would have to disconnect magicjack, start anydvd. Use, then exit anydvd, and remember to reconnect magicjack. You can see why I don't like that solution.

Webslinger, Sorry to have offended you. Apparently the hour I spent looking for a solution and reading 10 stickys, (several written by you, but none of which contained the info in your signature,) before my posting was not enough research on the dos and don'ts here. There are entirely too many sticky's to possibly know if they all contain info I am required to read before posting. Perhaps your signature link would be easier to find if it were the first sticky entitled "Before your post".

After CAREFULLY reading the link at the end of your post, I find it condescending and commanding, as was your response to me, although delightfully quick, and not what I expected from a fine company such as Slysoft, or for that matter any other response I experienced in other threads or by other people in this one. I don't care that you are not an employee of Slysoft, as a moderator in a Slysoft forum, I, as a paying customer, deserve to be treated with more respect than you have shown.

But I do appreciate you giving me my very own thread in spite of my carelessness.

Now that we have both spanked each other....

Did you click "ok"?

As I have since 1985, every time I change an option in a graphical interface, I clicked OK.

You on the other hand, were gentle, which I appreciate as this is my first time here, and more importantly, you attempted to be helpful.
That link suggested:

You can try to disable the drive letter for this thing in windows disk management. This will prevent AnyDVD seeing it.

Disabling the drive would make it inaccessible to everything in windows and therefore would solve the Anydvd problem but magicjack would not work as a result. Thanks for your suggestion.

As I stated, this problem seems that the action to un-check that drive is not sticking. Earlier versions did not have these problems as I have been using Anydvd for quite sometime and the magicjack for six months. I am not sure when the problem began. I will start to install older versions until I find a version that works and perhaps that will help in finding a solution.

BTW, I forgot to mention I am using WinXP Pro SP3.

Actually, all those posts contain my signature, and moreover, the forum rules, which is where my signature resides, should be read by everyone, prior to posting: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=4. So that means you saw "Click this before posting, please" ten times--and yet didn't.

Reading forum rules is a requirement for anyone regardless of whatever forum they sign up to.

The English forum moderators don't care what your subjective views are concerning forum rules. Those are the forum rules and guidelines. And they are required reading. If you do not wish to follow them, then do not post here.

Due to the technical nature of this problem I would suggest contacting Slysoft directly. We've only seen maybe three people, including you, bring up an issue with using MagicJack and the problem is that in each case when suggestions were made the people never reported back so we have no clue as to whether any suggestions worked.

Given that very few forum readers actually have a MagicJack it is difficult for us to offer a solution. I can sit here and think of things that might help but I can't say whether they'd make any difference at all or whether they'd cause a problem somewhere else.

Please contact Slysoft Support directly and fully explain the problem. If they ask for more information or for you to try certain things then please do as they ask. If you can give them all the necessary information this issue may be solved once and for all.
