Default Ripping freezes at same spot each time, cannot stop

I have been having troubles ripping blu ray discs. Each disc gets to a specific spot, maybe 2%, maybe 67% it depends but the speed drops to 0.00 and the time just keeps increasing.

I have read all the topics here on the subject and have done all the following to try and stop it.

switching the SATA cable for a new one
moving to a new SATA spot on the motherboard
reformating the hard drive and re-installing the OS (win vista home premium x64)
purchasing a new dvd-rom (had a lite-on and now have a LG 8x model as well)

As you can see I have gone to some great lengths to try and solve this but nothing seems to help. I have not been able to successfully rip a blu ray disc for quite a while.

The strange thing is that I am able to watch the discs in real time with not much trouble, certainly not anywhere near the trouble I have ripping them.

I have attached the log file.
Attached Files
File Type: zip AnyDVD_6.5.5.9_Info_G_SLUMDOG_MILLIONAIRE.zip (342.3 KB, 3 views)

What happens if you follow SamuriHL's bad disc guide (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=12460)? I'm not saying every disc is bad but what happens if you completely remove AnyDVD HD from the equation? If there is still a problem then it's a configuration, driver, or hardware issue.

I've been having problems visiting LG's website lately.

a) Check LG's website for a firmware update for your drive.

b) visit your motherboard's website, and look for updated Sata drivers

c) And while this won't help your ripping problem, if you do own Anydvd, update to 6.5.6.9 beta: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.ph...43&postcount=1

Also do what Drinklyeanddie wrote.

I have tried 5-6 discs in the last couple of weeks and all have the same result. I have even re-tried a disc that I have already done with the same result. I even went out and tried another competitors product but they would rip BD+ so I had to have ANYDVD on anyways, but still didn't work. Also keep in mind that I have purchased a new drive and still get the same result.

I will look for an update to the SATA drivers but this is just strange that it poped up one day and was working perfectly fine for months before that.

I feel like the only thing left to do is get a new motherboard unless this is software related.

Did you follow the instructions in SamurHL's guide? If so and it still doesn't work then it's not an AnyDVD HD problem. Could be either a driver issue or a controller issue.
What Motherboard are you using?
If it uses ICH controllers are theye set as AHCI or standard in the BIOS?
Have you installed the latest motherboard drivers?
If ICH and in AHCI mode did you install the Intel matrix storage manager?

I do think it is hardware related but just came up about 2 weeks ago after about 4 months without a problem.

I have a Asus P5N32-E Sli motherboard

I have no idea on the ICH controller thing so I will have to check that. I have not touched anything on the montherboard and has the factory settings since it was installed back in May of '07.

They have had several BIOS upgrades since then and will upgrade to the latest version tonight hopefully.

Have you, at any time, looked for a firmware update for your drive?

You should do so in addition to trying what Adbear mentioned.

This doesn't seem to be an Anydvd HD issue as you're having problems ripping with every program.

There wasn't any firmware update for my lite-on drive and no updates for the new LG either.

I will try ImgBurn and see if I can get it onto the hard drive at least.

I will update my BIOS to the latest version

I am really at a loss beyond that though.

My test with the "other" program didn't leave anydvd out of use though as I needed it running in the background to use the other program.

If you are using Vista then there is no reason why you have to have AnyDVD HD running to follow that guide. You can copy any BD-Rom to the harddrive with or without AnyDVD HD installed as there's no bad sector protection on Blu-ray discs. If you use Imgburn and tell it to make an ISO with AnyDVD HD uninstalled or not running and it fails to make an ISO then it's not an AnyDVD HD issue

Sometimes when my rip stops @ certain point I clean the disc thoroughly no matter how pristine it looks and then it rips fine

sometimes I have to clean it, and then I have to clean it again, and then I have to clean it some more then it rips

Some times when TsMuxeR stops in rip where I selected the main movie .m2ts I then load in the mlps and then it rips fine

if all else fails the AnyDVD ripper gets it on the HDD for me as iso then i mount it and process thru TsMuxeR

ocgw

peace
