Default BD ripping speed?

Hi,

I've had a little search but couldn't find anything helpful.

I've bee nusing anyDVD for a year, but have just purchased an LG CH08LS10.AUAR and anyDVD HD, the BD rom is an 8x drive.

I'm currently backing up Tropic Thunder and used rip video DVD to harddisk, taking it to a SATA drive. I'm only getting a rip speed of 16-18MBps which is 4x. I'm a little confused why the drive isn't spinning up to full speed? It wants to take around 50 minutes to do this dual layer disc when I thought it should be 30 max.

Any clues? I seem to have the latest FW on the drive as it's brand new and i'm running anyDVD HD 6.5.7.1

1. If you have Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120% installed, uninstall it. Or more importantly, uninstall SPTD, which is the culprit for slow rips:

a) click http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.ph...39&postcount=5

b) click http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.ph...9&postcount=30

2. Upload Anydvd .zip log file

Thanks for the quick response.

I don't have daemon tools just slysoft clonedrive. Also I don't have SPTD installed according to it's exe, it offers no uninstall.

I can't seem to find a log file anywhere for anydvd?

  1. Ensure Anydvd is running.
  2. Put Tropic Thunder in your BD drive. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
  3. Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
  4. Select "Create Logfile"
  5. Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
  6. A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
  7. Windows Explorer will open, and you will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar)
  8. When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like (in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
  9. If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
  10. A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
  11. Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
  12. click "upload"
  13. Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

Update to AnyDVD HD 6.5.7.3 beta: http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/SetupAnyDVD6573.exe

From your logs:

Quote:
CLBStor (system32\drivers\CLBStor.sys), Version: 5.0.0.4620 (5.0.0.4620)
Company: Cyberlink Co.,Ltd.
Copyright: Copyright(C) Cyberlink Co.,Ltd.
Description: Cyberlink Storage Helper Driver (WindowsNT5.x)
FileVersion: 5.0.4620
ProductVersion: 5.0.4620
Some filters can cause trouble when backing up DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-ray discs. I would recommend removing this filter. Refer here for an incomplete list of known problematic filters: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=15536.

Remove the filter:
  1. Create a backup of your registry. Refer here for how to do so: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756
  2. Download ImgBurn (freeware) here: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download.
  3. Start ImgBurn and go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order....
  4. Select "CLBStor". Click Remove Selected Filter. Click OK.
  5. Reboot

Whatever programs installed the filters may no longer work properly. Reinstall the piece of software that originally installed the filter to get things working again if necessary.

After rebooting create and post a new set of log files.

Other than this filter I don't see anything else standing out in the logs.

Clicking remove filter doesn't seem to do anything?

It tells me the program may stop working and am I sure I wish to remove it, I click ok rather than cancel but the filter is still there?

also it's from cyberlink which is powerDVD and the extras that came with the drive. When I first installed the drive I ran anyDVD before installing any of the extras and it was running slowly, I then installed the extras (which had the cyberlink stuff) and it was still running slowly... So I think it was running at 4x before the CLB filter was installed.

Thanks for the help.

Other than seeing if updated chipset drivers are available for your motherboard, I don't have any other suggestions.

You can try using imgburn to rip instead. Sometimes drivers and other installed programs play a contributing factor with rips speeds obtained (depending on the program used to rip).

It doesn't really matter what you use to rip--so long as the disc rips fine.

Also, you might want to check to see if a firmware update is available for your drive.

Alright, you shouldn't have to uninstall PowerDVD to get rid of that filter. I have PowerDVD 7, 8, and 9 installed and don't have CLBStor.sys present. Some filters have to be removed in Safe Mode. There should be no issues with PowerDVD running in the absence of that filter.

16.5 MB/s isn't exactly bad. The people reporting major issues usually have like 5 MB/s. Not all discs will be ripped at the same speed and the speed may go up and down during the ripping process. Speed tends to also go on a disc by disc basis. Some discs rip far faster on my BD drive than others.
