Default AnyDVD is disabled for drive F:!

I am using an HP laptop and I bought a Lite On external DVD burner. It is absolutely awesome, at first anyway. Now, I get the above message on the status page of AnyDVD. How do I enable it for this external drive? I can still use my internal drive, but the external has always been 3 times as fast. I can still use the external to burn, but just not read the dvd's. Any help would be great. I looked through some older posts and couldn't find anything similar. I am currently using version AnyDVD 6.5.9.5.

Right click the Fox head in the tray, select 'Settings...'. In the setting screen select Drives, Selection on the left side. On the right side make sure that the new drive is selected (tick).

In addition to what mike_r wrote, ensure your external drive is on and can be seen by Windows (in my computer/computer). Also update Anydvd: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.ph...29&postcount=1

I have the fox head on my desktop, but it doesn't give me a "Settings" option when I right click on it.

Not on your desktop, the fox icon in your tray bar (bottom right). Rightclick on that one

I am going to show my computer ineptitude now, how do I get it to show in the tray? I have it on my desktop and I can pin it to my taskbar, but it still won't give me the setting when I right click.

When I open AnyDVD, under Drives, Selections, the only thing that reads on there is drive E:. But under status, it shows that drive F: is disabled.

By the way, I figured out the tray. It shows in the status as disabled, but doesn't show the F: drive in the Drives/Selection

Please update to AnyDVD 6.5.9.6 beta: http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/SetupAnyDVD6596.exe

After updating place a DVD in the drive that is working correctly and then create and post log files:
  1. Ensure Anydvd is running.
  2. Put the problematic original movie dvd in your burner. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
  3. Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
  4. Select "Create Logfile"
  5. Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
  6. A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
  7. Windows Explorer will open, and you will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar)
  8. When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like (in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
  9. If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
  10. A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
  11. Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
  12. click "upload"
  13. Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

It's not any particular movie that causes it. All of a sudden, my external drive (F is disabled in AnyDVD. It doesn't matter which movie I try.
