Default Ripley's Game - will not rip

Hi
I have had this DVD for quite a while and could never get AnyDVD to rip it - it always aborted at 99% with an error message and I thought that it was a defective DVD.
I just bought a second copy of the DVD from a different supplier and got exactly the same error message.
The AnyDVD logfile and a printscreen of the error message are attached.
Many thanks for any assistance you can give.

Still likely just a typical File IO3 read error. Bad disks pressed in batches - often a large run.
And the 99% mark indicates it's near the edge of the disk - where these errors are most likely.

Try ripping it to IMAGE and telling AnyDVD to skip over read errors as you see them.
(not recommended as a rule - but might help your case)

Default Probably but ....

Clams is probably right and I'd call that too, especially at 99%.

Just for grins (as long as the heuristic scan say nothing found)

Left click the AnyDVD tray icon at the lower right of your screen.
Open the "Video DVD" list by clicking the + symbol
Open "settings"
Open the "AI Scanner" menu at the lower right of that screen
Set "always enabled"
OK

Now insert this disc and try it. Perhaps the "rip video..." on the right mouse click on the tray icon is best at this point.

If it still fails you likely have a playable but not copyable DVD.

Regardless, click "default" to restore AnyDVD to normal operation.

Hi Clams & Frank

Thanks for the suggestions

Clams - I tried your suggestion and managed to get an ISO with no errors displayed

Frank - I tried your suggestion but got exactly the same error.

So if I burn the ISO to a high capacity DVD do you think that I could then get AnyDVD to rip it ?

Many thanks for the help

If you managed to create an .iso (which is strange, but maybe you were just lucky and your drive decided to read the sector) you can mount it with VCD and use CloneDVD as usual.

I mounted the ISO using Virtual Clone Drive and tried to rip it from there but I got a "repairing defective structure" message and then the rip ended with another error message so I think that I have a pair of defective disks

Many thanks for all the help though.

Likely. But there's still a couple things that don't quite add up.
Let us know if and how you ever resolve this please.
