Hello,
I am new to AnyDVD but certainly not new to the game. I am trying to create ISOs of my BD collection so that I can write them to BD-REs when I travel to playback on my laptop without risking damage/loss of my originals. I recently purchased a Dell Optiplex 790 desktop and installed a Sony BD-5300S in it. I also have my old Dell Studio 1745 laptop which has an OEM BD reader in it. My problem is this: ISOs created on the desktop don't work properly - I cannot watch them even if just mounted as a drive on the computer and BD-REs made with these ISOs don't work. ISOs created on the laptop work perfectly and can be burned to a BD-RE which work fine. I can watch the original BD on the desktop without issue. I have tried with several BDs from different studios and always the same issue. If I move a laptop-created ISO to the desktop, the ISO works fine and can be watched/burned. If I move a desktop-created ISO to the laptop, it still doesn't work. I checked and the settings are identical on both copies of AnyDVD HD and both use the same playback software (PowerDVD DX and Nero KwikMedia) I am attaching info files from both machines and hopefully someone can determine what is causing the issue on the desktop. If you would like a log of my creating an ISO on the desktop, just let me know. AnyDVD HD seems like the perfect software for my needs and I am ready to purchase when my trial expires in a few days, but I need to resolve this issue before I do. Thanks in advance for your help. EDIT: Just noticed 7.0.3.2 is out. Will update and try again and repost info files, but the problem occurred when I had the non-beta version installed and continued in 7.0.3.0. OK - tried with 7.0.3.2 and same issue. Here's the log file from the same BD on the laptop and desktop. Thanks!

Well I wouldn't expect it to make any difference as AnyDVD HD works on one of your systems with no issues on the same discs. You might want to try running some system tests like memtest etc as these issues can be caused by bad RAM or something else not working quite right

Thanks - running the full boat of built-in diagnostics now. Will then run Memtest. Any other tests you can suggest? Would suck if there was an issue as it is a brand-new machine, but hey - at least it's still under warranty.

I ran the full slew of diagnostics and everything comes up fine - no errors at all. Just got a new BD-RE drive and would like to try and see if AnyDVD HD will work on it, but my trial expired. Any way to get an extra day or two to see if the new drive solves the issue?
Thanks! |
