Question AnyDVD ripper and speed control?

Simple question. There is speed control included in the AnyDVD app. Set this to "slow & quiet" and you don't have background "whirrrrrrr" to accompany your movie evening.

However, if you're like me and have a half-dozen season boxes you mix and match, most disks are ripped to HDD so I don't have to shuffle disks.

So. Does the AnyDVD image ripper override the speed control? Or I have to go back to set the speed back to "noisy" for ripping and reset to "quiet" for live disk playback?

No, the image ripper won't and can't adjust the speed.

James, does AnyDVD's speed control apply to BDs at all, and if so does it affect the built-in ripper in any way? The speed control's descriptions & tooltips suggest it applies to music CDs and video & data DVDs; they do not mention HD DVDs or BDs.

At most, though, the speed control applies only to optical drive access; it should have zero impact on HDD playback as the software player accesses the HDD directly, and little if any impact on ISO playback as the only "optical drive" being accessed is the virtual one (i.e., VCD). Thus, if the OP uses the drive only for ripping he should have no problem setting it to "Fast & Noisy"; I use that myself for audio CDs since I almost always rip them.

The "other" (data) setting applies to Hd-dvd and blu-ray.

The setting only applies to optical drives. VCD ignores it.

Perhaps it should. Or maybe just have a tickbox "rip at full speed"?
