Over the years I used various tools like MakeMKV, DVDdecrypter etc but grew tired of fiddling and experimenting to achieve success. $125 may seem like a lot up front but it pays for itself in saved hours and it provides peace of mind because the movies always play from our storage server after conversion. I especially like that it integrates with MyMovies on our Windows 7 Media Center so we can backup new DVD's and Blurays using our remote.

Does AnyDVD HD have any shortcomings?
It won't get me free sex and/or beer. Other than that, it is as near perfect a piece of computer software as is humanly possible. Even when the developers inadvertently add a bug to a new update, they are very quick about fixing it. More often than not a new protection scheme is defeated on or before the general street release of the DVD/BD. If that is a shortcoming the software industry needs more such "problems".

Thanks for the posts.
You won't be sorry. AnyDVD is the best. With new releases, just be a little patient and follow the forum posts. All rare problems are fixed within days and often within hours. If you wait at least 2 weeks before backing up a new release, you will never have a problem (unless you're backing up some really rare title on occassion). And if you do have a problem, it's almost always a bad disk.

If it's really an AnyDVD problem, just post the logs and the Slysoft Gurus will fix it within a couple of days and often within a few hours.
