Default I can get an HP bd335i for free...should I?

Hi folks,

I know everyone here says LG is the way to go for the most part, but I have a dilemma.

My employer gave me a $500 gift card to HP Home Sales. I have been wanting a burner for some time. They offer one internal and several external burners. They are all OEM Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions Corporation (PLDS) products.

The internal one is 12X External Blu-ray Disc/DVD/CD Writer bd335i. I searched on the "bd335i" with no hits and "PLDS" get 26 hits about one or two other models.

My question is, does anyone have any experience with this model, good or bad? I don't trust reviews on any other site since I use SlySoft products.

If is is risky then I will pass on the writer and buy a LG later.

Here are some of the specs.

The HP bd335e comes bundled with the award winning Cyber-Link BD Solution (CBDS) software suite that delivers the best functionality for recording and playback. Also, CBDS incorporates features allowing high-denition 3D playback of Blu-ray 3D movies, or 2D Blu-ray and DVD movies with simulated 3D.

The HP bd335e is capable of recording on today's most popular BD, DVD and CD media. It writes BD-R at up to 12X speed, BD-R DL at 8X, BD-RE SL/DL at 2X, and reads BD at 8X; it can also record DVD±R at 16X, DVD±R DL at 8X, DVD±RW at 8X and DVD-RAM at 12X.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ya can buy that laptop mate, you could then simply ask them or any other computer store you want the internal drive swapped to an LG one. Take a look on lge.com for drive models.
