Default MI-4 and Netgear NTV550

Hi.

I've been ripping new DVD's that I purchase to my Windows Home Server for a while now as VOB files. In all cases these rips have played fine on my Netgear NTV550.

I've purchased Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol and ripped it with a couple of other movies I purchased. All the other movies play fine. When I try to play MI-4 the screen just goes black, and the NeoTV just freezes up and requires a powercycle to get the player to work again.

I've been able to play MI-4 through Windows Media Center from the rip to the WHS.

Any ideas? This is a region 4 disc, and I've included the logfile.

After upgrading AnyDVD to V7.0.7.0 I deleted the original rip, and ripped again with exactly the same symptoms just incase an update solved the issue.

Thanks for any help on this issue.

The DVD is formatted for PAL playback. You sure the NTV550 can play back PAL?

Yep, about half of my DVD's are PAL, and the other half are NTSC purchased before I moved to AU. The NeoTV was purchased locally in Australia.

So if you have AnyDVD running and play the original or play the rip on your PC does that work? If so then that would imply an issue with the NeoTV otherwise it wouldn't play back on your PC either.

As VOB files??? Please elaborate what exactly your are doing, and how you play it back.
Do not play VOB files directly, this is a very bad idea.

I insert the DVD into the drive.
I start My Movies Collection Management
My Movies Copy Disk window opens.
I select Destination Type "Folder Structure"
I select the Destination Folder
I click Start

I play the movies by selecting their title on either Media Center, or the NeoTV player and clicking the Play button. Not by selecting individual VOB files. Sorry for the confusion.

My Movies recognizes AnyDVD is installed and running and uses it to rip DVDs

I'm going to try saving the disk as an ISO file from My Movies Collection Management and see what happens.

Thanks

gib

I suggest you don't use the "My Movies Collection Management" for this disc and use the AnyDVD ripper "Rip Video DVD to Harddisk" instead.
If this works (and I believe it will), you should contact "My Movies" to inform them about the problem.

Trying it now. Will see what happens and post a report.

Thanks

Did as suggested and now plays. Don't know what the difference is but I'll try this method in the future if I have issues with a disk.

Thanks
