Hi everyone, what i'd like to know is whether I need anydvd or clone dvd.
i'd like to back up my dvds from my laptop to an external hard drive for easy storage that will enable me to watch them on my tv (providing my tv can do that,it has a usb slot at the front and a few at the back). I wouldn't want any of the subtitles, menu, trailers or multiple soundtracks, just the film. Would anydvd allow me to do all of this, of would I need clone dvd as well? For some reason I thought anydvd removes copy restrictions and copys to your hard drive, whilst clonedvd makes actual copies from blank discs. I'm new to this forum. Please accept my appologies if I've posted this messages to the wrong destination. Many thanks |

CloneDVD doesn't handle copy protected DVDs, which means you will need AnyDVD to remove the copy protections from almost any DVD you come across. AnyDVD comes with a rudimentary ripping tool, which you can use to copy your complete and uncompressed DVDs.
With CloneDVD, you can compress your DL-DVDs to SL-DVDs, clone the complete DVD or copy only the main movie. You can choose to not copy extras, audio tracks or subtitles. However, CloneDVD is limited to DVD-like output. If your TV set cannot handle the ISOs or folder structures from your USB drive, you could give CloneDVD mobile a try. CloneDVD mobile can convert DVD titles to a large variety of output formats. These include one audio track and up to one subtitle track. Like CloneDVD, CloneDVD mobile does not handle copy protected DVDs, so you will have to use it in combination with AnyDVD most of the time. If I were you, I would try AnyDVD in combination with CloneDVD mobile or CloneDVD. The trial period for each of the three programmes is 21 days, I think. Just remember you need Anydvd HD if you plan on backing up BluRay media in the future. Might cost more but would good to have in itself but when you do don't forget the BluRay burner to have as well. I myself got Anydvd HD, CloneCD, CloneDVD, CloneDVDmobile. I use the first two most and the 3rd second. But have mobile just cause it good to have and also get LTL not the 1, 2 or 3 or.....subscription that will give you a lifetime of updates to the software. And also look for the new BluRay copy software when they get it out to the endusers it will be something to get if and when you have the cash or want to get. Myself on the other hand will get it and buy a LTL to have it when I want to use or need it. This comes from a satisfied customer and user for a number of years when CloneCD before Anydvd came along.
