Any solution for converting iPod Touch videos?

I've got the same problem as a lot of other people. When I convert a dvd video for my Ipod Touch I get sound but no video. Is there another way to process the video that would produce a large enough resolution for my Ipod ? Are we Ipod Touch users going to have to wait for the next software revision ? Help !
