Default Daemon Tools V4.30.0301 stops PDVD8 playback

I installed Daemon version 4.30.0301 (as an upgrade on a Vista 32 pc) and now PDVD8 won't play my Blu-Ray iso images on scsi virtual drives. When I try to play a mounted image PDVD8 recognizes the iso as a blu-ray and shows "play" but shortly after it says "stopped" and throws up a window that says: "CyberLink PowerDVD requires perodic updates to continue playing back some new disc titles. Would you like to update now?" It doesn't matter what iso image I mount; as the result is the same. Sometimes I see "file mode" flashed up when PDVD is getting ready to try to play the iso.

I'm not having any trouble playing the original disc using PDVD8 in the physical combo drive at all. I've played all of my iso images previously without problems. I'd sure like to roll back and try the old version of Daemon Tools but their key system won't let me do that.

Unless someone else has good results with the current version I'd recommend staying away from it for now.

Seems a lot of people having the same issue. I recommend Virtual CloneDrive instead.

Yea, me too. I'm quite pleased with it myself.

Well... I have to admit... I have no idea what in heck happened but now I can't watch mounted BD images using DT either. I just tried the other day and had no issues. I'm utterly baffled.

I don't know if the problem is with the 1830 update to PDVD8 or the 4.30 update to DT.

It's DT. Something got pooched in the latest version for sure. Oh well. I like VCD better anyway.

do you think they might have taken out the ability to play mounted BD or just a minor screw up ?

Sounds more like a bug to me. There is no way in hell given DT's history that they'd do this intentionally to placate Cyberlink or the movie industry. Think about what DT does.

Well, I tried Virtual CloneDrive without success so now I'm beginning to suspect CyberLink updates may have had a hand in this. My version is 8.0.1730.50.

I installed VCD 5.4.0.4 beta and it works fine with the same BD image that I couldn't play with DT 4.30. Of course, uninstall DT and the SPTD driver before installing VCD. I used Appleseed Ex Machina BD as my test image.

Btw, you should update. You're a version behind. Cyberlink released build 1830 the other day. Update your PowerDVD8 install.
