You could make VCD look at what folders are in the iso so if it finds Video TS then it could identify that iso as a dvd or if it finds BDMV and Certificate it could identify as blu-ray.

I was reading through the post on VCD 5.4.0.5 RC and I thought of it as a possible solution for disc type identification using information stored in the iso itself.
