Default AnyDVD (HD) 6.4.6.4 beta

This is a *beta* release. It should only be used by experienced users.

It fixes a bug from 6.4.6.3 beta

http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/SetupAnyDVD6464.exe

6.4.6.4 2008 08 26
- New: "Rip to image file" creates a .dvd file for better emulation
(media type, layer break) with Virtual CloneDrive(tm) available at
http://www.slysoft.com
- New (DVD): Added workaround for DVDs with CSS mastering errors, e.g.
"Go", R2, Germany
This mastering error prevents playback with most player software
(e.g., Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center, Zoom Player, TheaterTek)
and some standalone players (e.g., PlayStation 3)
With AnyDVD playback on the PC is now possible.
- Fix (DVD): CSS authentication error 5:55:0 under some circumstances
- Some minor fixes and improvements
- Updated languages

James,

Can you elaborate this?

Thanks for the update!

What to elaborate? Only if you run AnyDVD 6.4.6.3 or better, you can watch the disc. Without AnyDVD running you cannot (one of the strongest features of AnyDVD is that you can *watch* discs on your PC the way you want... in this case, that you can watch them *at all*).

Are you saying you need to have anydvd running to watch movies or has an improvement taken place in that regard.

Without Anydvd you wouldn't be able to watch this standard definition dvd on your computer due to the protection on the disc.

The specific titles with the CSS mastering error (ie Go) were screwed up the way the studio released them. They wouldn't play on some standalones and the listed software players. AnyDVD fixes what is wrong with the original disc so that you can actually watch it.

Remember the problems people had with with Jumper without AnyDVD HD running? Again, a title that was released that caused problems to people who don't use AnyDVD that AnyDVD HD was able to fix.

Let's try to keep the SD DVD discussions in the AnyDVD forum and the HD/BD discussions in the AnyDVD HD forum.

Yes. There are many titles which you cannot watch on a PC without AnyDVD running.

That was given and understood, that's why I wasn't sure why it was there. I just want to make sure I did not miss any magic you guys create. Thanks!

Gonna have to check out the new .dvd stuff. I assume it's a descriptor file and that it still creates an ISO?

Yes. It is the descriptor used by Virtual CloneDrive (and CloneCD).
