I tried to back up two separate DVDs today and got the same result. It goes through the reading part just fine but when it starts to write it locks my whole computer up and I have to do a hard restart. Anyone have any thoughts? I thought it might just be the DVD but I tried another and got the same thing.

the movie is DOA dead or alive, I backed up other movies just a couple days ago. I have re installed all the software from slysoft and my burner and updated all drivers and firmware. Like I said before, it reads the disk fine then locks up when trying to write the movie.

The firmware hasn't been updated since 2004 (and that does represent a problem insofar as your drive's firmware won't support newer blank media codes). Here are your drive specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...c00001838#N805 1) What blank media are you using? Specify a) brand name b)type (-R, +R, -RW, +RW, RAM, DL, etc.) c)media code, and e)country (factory information would be great as well, if possible) where the media was made (look on the physical packaging; do not rely on programs to accurately give you this information). If you don't know how to obtain media codes, you may find the following programs useful: http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com and http://www.dvdinfopro.com/ Quote:
2. i) Create a backup of your registry ii) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download (it's also an excellent program imo) iii) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Select "drvmcdb". Click "Remove Selected Filter". Select "CDR4_2K". select "sscdbhk5". Click "Remove Selected Filter". Click "ok". iv) Reboot Keep in mind the programs that installed those filters will no longer work properly. 3. Click the red fox icon on your toolbar. Click "default". Click "ok". 4. After removing the filters, I listed reupload the .zip please
