Default PDVD 7 vs PDVD 8 playback issues

Hi there,

I have a number of BD .iso rips made with AnyDVD and mounted with virtual clone drive. With a few of them, I'm unable to play them back with PowerDVD 8, but they play fine with PowerDVD 7. In PDVD 8 they appear to start, but just sit there with a black screen, and the playback counter sits at 00:00:00.

The last one this happened with was the BD of Starship Troopers 3. Is this a known issue, or is there some some setting with AnyDVD HD that I'm not using?

Thanks.

I am seeing this problem now using PowerDVD 7, AnyDVD and mounted with virtual clone drive.

Made of Honor sitting at 00:00 with black screen.

If one version works and the other doesn't then I'd say it looks like a PowerDVD problem. The latest PowerDVD7 release is a month newer than the latest PowerDVD8 release.

Make sure you are running the latest AnyDVD HD and Virtual CloneDrive versions.

build numbers for PDVD would be helpful as well as information on how you're making & mounting the ISO's, also make sure that the ISO you make has all the missing folders (even if they are empty)

I'm actually using an old version of PDVD7 Ultra (the last one that supported playback from disk), and the latest version of PDVD8 Ultra. PDVD7 plays both the .iso and the non-iso-on-disk versions.

Is ther a definitive list of folders that need to be present for PDVD8 playback? I'm using the latest Virtual CloneDrive for mounting.

PDVD7 Ultra - 7.3.3319a
PDVD8 Ultra - 8.0.4613.50

Is there anyway ofmaking PDVD8 use the Pdvd7 codec? Just wondering if that's the problem.

sounds like a bd-live issue to me, did you try setting anydvd to disable bd-live?

Yes tried that - although wouldn't you expect them to play in 8 and not in 7 if it were a BD-Live issue (and not the other way around)?

not really, before the latest build of 8 I was able to get more to play in 7 than 8, but now I only have 1 film that doesn't seem to like PDVD 7 or 8 and that's sleeping beauty
