Default Blu-ray drive & Conversion to DVD

Just registered AnyDVD HD and I'm a newbie as far as Blu-ray. Two questions:

1) Someone recommended LG GGW-H20L drive for use with AnyDVD HD for ripping Blu-ray discs. I saw an LG GBW-H20L drive for sale at $280. Are there applicable reason(s) not to buy this model for this purpose?

2) If I do buy one (either model), will I be able to convert an ISO from Blu-ray format to DVD for playing on a DVD player? And which app will I need to use to do the conversion?

Thanks for any info.

Another question: what does the acronym "BD" mean? (I told you I'm a newbie)

LG GBW-H20L does not support HD-DVD reading (GGW does).

BD is blu-ray disk.

BD->DVD is not worthwhile. There is some beta software in development (BD Rebuilder for example), but the time and effort on your behalf is probably not worth it. it'll take hours to downscale, loads of CPU.

Thanks, I'll forget about Blu-Ray for a while. I don't have a monitor with high resolution anyway!
