Default [Resolved] Problem Mounting New Blu-Ray

Hi,

I recently used AnyDVD HD to rip a copy of a new Boondock Saints Blu-Ray to an ISO. I used the same procedure as I have used for my entire library. However, when I attemptted to mount the ISO after the rip completed, Virtual Clonedrive gave an error saying unable to mount Boondock_Saints.Iso! When I came to the forum, I noticed a new beta was posted (5.4.2.3) so I downloaded and installed it. Now the ISO mounts, however, when I attempt to play the Blu-Ray with PowerDVD, it returns an error saying "A disc with an unsupported format in Drive I:". PowerDVD plays the original Blu-Ray disc without a problem a problem. Is there something I can try to correct this?

logfile might be helpful.
Also, what version and build of PDVD are you using?
What version of VCD?
Is this a protected or unprotected ISO?

Hi,

As mentioned in my initial post I have tried the latest release version of clonedrive along with the latest beta. 2 different errors occur depending on which version of clonedrive is used. The release version doesn't mount the ISO at all, with the beta simply not playing in powerdvd.

I am running powerdvd 7.3 and can't any information in powerdvd about a more specific minor revision number. If a minor revision number exists for powerdvd, please let me know how to retrieve it. I need to stay with the powerdvd "7" series as I have a collection of around 20 HD-DVDs and powerdvd 8 does not support hd-dvd playback. I still haven't figured out why they dropped support, but that is another story.

The ISO is unprotected and was ripped twice with the same problem. Once from within My Movies using the copy disc interface which then relies on AnyDVD HD. The second time was directly from AnyDVD HD ripping directly to an ISO. I have used both of these methods successfully in the past for around 40 blu-ray discs without issue.

I also read your guide that was a part of your signature. While I did not follow those instructions and rip to the hard drive, I did mount the iso with the clonedrive beta and verified the directory structure. All folders listed were included as part of the ISO.

What I found interesting what 2 additional folders are part of the directory structure, AACS and BDSVM. I took a look on the original blu-ray disc and both of these folders exist on the original disc as well. I then did some investigating and looked at the directory structures of around 10 of the working blu-ray ISO rips I have and I discovered that all of them do not contain a AACS folder or BDSVM folder. They also all have a Sly! folder and a few appear to have some PS3 specific content with folder names like PS3_UPDATE, PS3_content, etc. Does the Boondock Saints Blu-Ray I just ripped contain a new type of protection not yet supported by AnyDVD, hence the presence of the AACS folders and the lack of a Sly! folder?

I'm unaware of anyone else reporting a problem with this disc and you are the only person who I've seen mention the disc. Without logs I don't expect anyone will really be able to help.

Post AnyDVD HD log files using the original disc.
  1. Ensure AnyDVD is running.
  2. Put the problematic original movie DVD in your burner. Wait for AnyDVD to scan the disc.
  3. Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
  4. Select "Create Logfile".
  5. Wait for AnyDVD to create a log file.
  6. A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where AnyDVD created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "OK".
  7. Windows Explorer will open, and you will see a ZIP file called "AnyDVD_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar; see step f).
  8. When replying or posting in the SlySoft forums, look for the icon that looks like (in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread).
  9. If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
  10. A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't, please ensure your browser is configured to allow pop-ups from the SlySoft forum).
  11. Click the "Browse" button and locate and select the ZIP file you created.
  12. Click "upload".
  13. Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the ZIP file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at.

I have not abandoned this thread, however, I have discovered that the ISO may for some reason remained protected. There is a chance AnyDVD was disabled somehow. I should be able to follow up again by late tomorrow night (about 24 hours from this posting).

As for not hearing about this from other people, it may be because the blu-ray was just released February 10th, however at the moment it is looking more like I may have messed something up.

I had the same problem until I rebooted... the VCD 5.4.2.3 beta install was a clean install on my system, and it didn't prompt a reboot.
I rebooted, and now BD ISO's mount as expected

Thanks guys, turns out AnyDVD because disabled somehow as I suspected in my most recent post. PowerDVD wouldn't play the ISO because it was still protected. All set now.

I'm having this exact problem with this movie. I can't even play it. Tomorrow I will post logs. My HTPC is not connected to the net. so it's a pain to post logs.
